After reading several reviews about this place we made sure to try it out when we arrived in Ushuaia. My wife and I had the tasting menu and the crab and local fish were exquisite. They also made some pasta for our young son that he loved. The wine pairings were also excellent. A must visit when in the region!

RESTAURANT'S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 18 December 2016 via mobile

I visited Kalma based on it's trip advisor rating and was not disappointed. The restaurant is slightly out of the centre of town but walkable and easy enough to find. Reservations are recommended as all but 1 table was taken. I was dining alone and noted that 3 other diners were doing the same so felt very comfortable doing so.... More

We went for the degustation with matching wines, and were very happy we did. The service was beyond reproach, and the food and wine really lovely. My only criticism (& this is really just a personal thing) is the decor. For a place with such artisan qualities in the food department, it had a very clinical, almost cold feel about... More

This is a small restaurant. Contemporary decor, interesting menu with the chef/owner and a server taking care of everything. Unfortunately a few things just didn't work. The server really couldn't explain the menu in sufficient detail, the chef could and did but his presence was spotty, and neither of them seemed very warm to the "tourist" table, but clearly fawned... This definitely is not your typical Ushuaia restaurant. This place could hold its own in my home town of Chicago, or any other cosmopolitan center. While it's a splurge, it is worth the trek up the hill to get to it. We ordered the "Menu Degustacion", a five course dinner of breads, King crab, two fishes, and a chocolate torte.... More

My travel partner and I ate here before going on an expedition and it was the best way to start our trip. We ordered the fixed price meal with wine pairings and it was one of my favourite meals EVER. Quality, presentation, and flavour were excellent... we could not believe the flavours. Most courses we gobbled the food down so... More

Disappointing visit to be honest, for a restaurant that is rated #1 in Ushuaia. The food was well intentioned but overambitious and underexecuted. Owner and chef Jorge sat on a computer all night long in full view of the dining room. No wonder there were only three tables full on a Saturday night, at a normal dining time. Our waitress... More

The restaurant is located a bit away from the main drag of Ushuaia (about 5 blocks uphill) which means that only those really looking for innovative food will make the trek. It is well worth it! We had the tasting menu (that changes every week) the first evening, with 4 courses, three of them fish/crab/shellfish themed, plus the chocolate variation.... More

Beautiful freshly sourced local produce. Service was absolutely charming and very professional. You know it's a special dining experience when the chef comes out to meet his guests and takes the time to share some hints and tips about his culinary magic.
