If you are looking for some very good Tex-Mex, southwestern food, try this place! Table side guacamole, fresh margaritas, and excellent shrimp tacos! You will not starve at this place!

Canyon Café was located in a lovely downtown plaza across from our hotel, in an oasis near a canal, with palm trees and beautiful flowers. The patio is amazing. The food and drinks were authentic and creative. We would definitely eat here again, especially at sunset with the romantic view.

I ordered the grilled tune. The chef did a good job with what he had to work with, but the quality of the fish was not very good. Service at a bar table was average and friendly.

Vegetarian options, about 3 or 4, I had the veggie tacos and the wife the spinach and mushroom quesadilla. Both were quite tasty and very filling. But the true reason to visit this place is for the chips and salsa! The basket comes with a multitude of different, and freshly fired, chips. Sweet ones, salty ones, hard ones, soft ones,... More

While in town for a convention I happened by there the first day but it was packed. I looked it up on Yelp and got on their website. The menu looked good and the outdoor patio was inviting. Upon arriving My wife and ordered a beer each. The waiter left menus and returned saying they were out of that particular... More

This was great Mexican food. Much better than some of the expensive restaurants we ate at downtown Phoenix. The service was GREAT! Some friends and I ate outdoors, and had a margarita that was yummy. Totally enjoyed our lunch!

I had dinner there with a large group. The host ordered platters of wings (in a Mexican restaurant!) and a mixed appetizer platter that was largely fried. For the meal I had the tuna. Ordered medium rare it came medium, and was very dry. I had expected Mexican food in Phoenix to be less fried Americanized. The dry fish was... More

I posted a not so complimentary review of Canyon Cafe months ago, mainly because of the service. My husband and I decided to give them another try. This time, they deserved the excellent rating. Our waiter, Jared, was also the bartender on this quiet Saturday afternoon. We were served delicious homemade chips and salsa within minutes of being seated on... More

Great location and awesome outdoor patio area if it's not too hot! They over did it with the spices on the chips and salsa was just ok. The food was decent and the service was good. I would go back but would try other places first. Our hotel concierge spoke very highly of this place but after eating there, we... More

Stopped in for a quick lunch with a group of conventioneers. The service was fast and friendly. The food was not the best and other members commented the next day that please don't go back to the Canyon Cafe.
