I have eaten chicken cafreal in many restaurants but this one seemed the most authentic of all.. great taste, finger licking good, decent portion size and very reasonably priced.. They serve very little gravy with the dish so it is always a good idea to ask for more..

Recommended by our hotel. Florentines serves a good range of local Goan food. Frequented by the locals which must be a good recommendation in itself. Tucked away outside the town, but found it with Google maps.

The star of this place was it's chicken cafreal. The taste has gone down over the years. There is very little masala which is not quite good. The gravy taste just like masala water no taste.

This is the first time I had local goan food . Goan Pao with chicken (cooked in goan style) . The food is just mind blowing . We ate so much but still the bill was so less . Loved the food and the place .

The place we stayed id not have a restaurant and Florentine was very close to it, hence we ordered food from here. Must have is their Chicken Cafreal, which they are famous for. We also ordered some vegetarian dishes & Chinese food which were also pretty good.

Only if you like really spicy food, visit this place. I knew caferel was spicy but a long time after the dinner we were reeling under the effect of the hot hot chicken!! Be careful!!

We had planned to have lunch elsewhere, but the place was closed. Having heard tell of Florentine many times and being in the neighborhood, we decided to give it a try. How lucky for us! We took our seats at a table next to one of the high glass windows at the back of the dining room. Natural light and... More

Caetano D'Costa encountered Chicken Cafreal in the early 80s. At the time, he was working in the kitchen of the Mandovi Hotel in Panjim, under the tutelage of a senior chef, Caridade Alfonso. Caetano D'costa's parents had a tiny tavern in a bylane of Saligao, selling cashew and palm feni distilled by a relative. His mother added homemade snacks to go along with drinks, and the little tavern immediately became a hit with the motorcycle-pilots of the region who operated a local taxi service on their bikes. They brought their customers in increasing numbers. In 1985, the then 24 year old Mr.D'Costa left his job at the Mandovi Hotel and the tavern turned into Florentine. On its menu was Chicken Cafreal. Today, this richly aromatic, long-marinated fried chicken that's smothered in a spicy, coriander- heavy sauce is ubiquitous on restaurant menus across the state and widely known across the world as a signature Goan dish. But in fact, until the 1970's, Chicken Cafreal was unknown in Goa.
