We had dinner there with a group of more than 20 people - mostly individual orders. The service was very friendly and highly efficient, the food very good. Everybody enjoy the restaurant and the time there. It was recommended by locals and definitely worth going there!

Managed a last minute reservation, and soooo very glad we did. The food was as we had always imagined it would and should be. We had the fondue, half Gruyere half vacherin, served with both bread and new potatoes, which I highly recommend, and also the Rösti which, in the US, you might think of as hash browns with cheese...... I took a stopover in Fribourg and was attached by the restaurant from outside. It is located right in city center, and please step inside. Your are meet with an unexpected interiour, and the decorations on the wall is second to none. I was sitting face to face with a Tinguely poster which I believe was genuine, as Fribourg is... More

Le Gothard is the place in Fribourg for Fondue. The atmosphere is typical, friendly staff, quickly served and delicious food !

Full of locals, pots of personality, good eats, not terribly costly, friendly. Beryl got roast chicken with frites and I got the same frites with a mystery sausage. Beryl definitely made the right choice. Get the local white wine, NEVER found in the States, quite good, we thought.

Quite sophisticated atmosphere and traditional food right in front of the cathedral. Nice service but an international menu could be helpful.

This restaurant is in a very convenient location right next to the Cathedral. Nicely decorated with very friendly staff this seems to be a typical Swiss restaurant full of locals. The fondue was excellent and reasonably priced given the location and you should definitely try the froid-chaud dessert with warm fruits and ice cream.

I went along on a cold, wet night in November at about 6 PM only to find the place heaving. I managed to get the last seat without booking so would recommend booking ahead. I went for Fondue and was not disappointed. The service is efficient and quick. The surroundings traditional Swiss. Hit the spot with a couple of beers.
