Ate here 3 consecutive nights and enjoyed every meal. Plenty of choice. Good wine list and very reasonably priced.

Food tasty and good hand pulled ale. Friendly and very accommodating of dogs and children something not so common these days. Odd thing makes it not quite hit the mark eg pudding was only lukewarm, waitress fairly brusque and also forgot to bring out some things and a couple of mistakes with order. All corrected with no big deal and... More

The Inn is situated few miles outside of Kirkby Stephen on a country road, surrounded by farmland and the owners own nature reserve nearby. We had a spacious ground floor room directly at the side of the road, this wasn't too much of a problem as the road was very quiet and didn't cause us any disturbance. I noted that... More

I was on a ride out and after reading about on the internet I decided to plan a route to include this inn for lunch. The area is lovely and the staff were very nice. I had roast topside beef with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The veg was in separate dish. I also had a pot of... More

Great name and a lovely bar area with a roaring fire. As it was a last minute decision we never thought to book a table but they kindly squeezed us in for a 630 sitting. Unfortunately there were no tables in the bar area but nevertheless the food was nice with a juicy 10oz sirloin cooked medium rare spot on... More

Please do not be put off by other reviewer's comments of the dated décor. Look beneath the surface and this inn offers so much more... True, the inn could do with a bit of TLC, but the warm welcome more than made up for this. The inn has a beautiful garden at the rear, with access to it's own small... More

Good standard hearty food and well presented. Service good but not always friendly. Lovely surroundings. Very dated interior and furnishings can't have changed for 30 years. Lovely drive.

Roaring fire on a cold evening. Steak and Ale Pie, veg and chips. Pork Chop all served with a smile. Enjoyable evening in a traditional country inn. Lovely setting. Well worth a visit.

First visit was after exploring the waterfall at The Spout and finding the Cross Keys Inn closed - well it was a Sunday. Monday same thing so sought sustenance elsewhere on both occasions. Great driving road to The Fat Lamb which hosts numerous clasic car parties. Food was great, atmosphere quiet - out of season - and service impeccable. A... More

Stayed at the Fat Lamb on a two day Winter Break with bed, breakfast and evening meal. Cannot recommend the place highly enough. All the staff we met were unfailingly friendly, helpful and looked after us well. The bedroom was clean, spacious and comfortable as was the bathroom. For early January the room was kept at a comfortable temperature throughout.... More
