Lovely place. Lots of lovely cakes on offer. Limited main course menu.
Quirky and atmospheric
Food could have been served a bit hotter and full English breakfast was a tad expensive.
Awful service .. people were waiting up to 45 minutes for their coffee and tea orders.
The staff were like headless chickens.. running around nobody had a clue.
We were really happy thinking we had found a gem to find it quite the opposite. Shame...…More
Went for breakfast here on Friday. We both had full English breakfasts. Sausages appeared to have been (unsuccessfully) reheated and were cold, likewise the bacon which was both cold and tough. One of us had cold baked beans, the other serving could have easily heated...a small village it was so hot.
The coffee was god, but the food dreadful.More
Ordered two panini's and a croissant, plus drinks at 16:15. At 16:45 we enquired where our food was. The waiter, who had taken our order previously, asked us what we had ordered. He said he would see what had happened. 16:50 we went into the...cafe and asked where our food was, to be told the order had been dropped and they were preparing it now.
From our table we heard the ting of a microwave, followed by two more. Our microwaved panini's then arrived, not toasted, but microwaved. I took a bite to confirm and with the exception of the few salad leaves, left the dish uneaten. A goats cheese filled, microwaved panini is not a pleasant experience.
I am assuming that they had switched off the panini toaster and rather than say decided to take the easy action. It's poor that the member of staff did not check on us or even remember our order, during what was a quiet period.
Having visited previously for drinks it's unlikely that we will return based on this experience.More
Excellent spot and great use of the space they have, loved the decor and the food is nice. However staff not very welcoming, I appreciate they were busy for a Sunday brunch but smiling and acknowledgement of us wouldn’t have gone a miss! The girl.../ lady who brought us our food seemed annoyed that she had to work!More
Covid compliant lunch for 2 with dog. They have built separate covered tables in the yard and it works well.
Get a table, order at the counter and wait for your order to come to you. Service was quick and efficient. No normal coke just...diet Coke available.
Turkish platter was great: tasty, interesting and veggie.

A single director Anita Human I understand is now running The Hog and The Canteen. The Vault is permanently closed to my knowledge. Anita is the twin sister of Caroline Saturley who previously jointly owned the businesses with Greg to the best of my knowledge. I might be completely wrong however.
