Just stopped by for a cold drink. Two J2o cost us £6-40! Yes I know pub prices are higher. But £3-20 each for a drink that costs on average 70 to 75p from any supermaket. Wasn't as if the service was good either. Stood at the bar for 5 minutes or more, before a customer told us to find reception,... More

Walking distance from our rental cottage made this an attractive place, but we hadn't realised that booking for a Saturday evening was a good idea. However the staff were able to find a table for 8 of us for an early dinner in the restaurant. Every one enjoyed their meal and the service was very good.

Good food and good value. Very attentive staff. Wine list a trifle disappointing but you can still find a good reasonably priced one. Dogs welcome. Took overseas visitors and they were very pleased

I rated this as poor because it isn't cheap and the quality of the food doesn't live up to the prices. We had read the reviews here but were disappointed. My starter of black pudding & duck was £7.50 for 2 small cubes of over cooked black pudding and about 4 small bits of not very nice duck, with quite... More

We called in here for lunch as we were in the area. This is a lovely old pub and restaurant, a gem, large open fire, tables well spaced, a delight. We ordered our meals and got a drink and took our seats at a table across from the fire. Service was friendly/efficient without being imposing. The food was very good,... More

After 49 years of cooking Christmas Day lunch for family and friends we decided to 'rebel' and booked in at the Blue Lion, a couple of miles from home. From the start to finish, it was memorable; delicious food, lovely atmosphere, attentive and professional staff. We fully intend to repeat our 'experiment' next year !

Having visited the Blue Lion on numerous occasions after shooting locally I thought it would be nice to take the family for lunch. The menu was fairly extensive with starters on chalk boards over the bar & main courses over the fire place, we also had a fixed price menu with plenty of choices. We all decided to have starters... The slowly cooked duck is simply the best duck dish I have ever had but if you do want to try it it's worth telling them when you book as it sells out very quickly. It has lots of different areas to eat, little nooks and crannies which makes it quirky and fun too. They have a really good wine... More

A perfect country pub. We visited on a recommendation and after a long dog walk we were looking forward to a good lunch and certainly we not disappointed. They had a good selection of real ales to be enjoyed in from of one of the log fires. There was a very tempting selection of food and both our starters and... More

This really is one of the best pubs in The Yorkshire Dales and over the last forty years we've been to most of them. It is a gastropub without being at all pretentious-you could stand at the bar and just have a pint without feeling uncomfortable, but then you would miss out on the wonderful food-the lunchtime set menu is one...
