We spent a fairly unhappy wet, cold and windy few days in Gairloch - then we found the Sheildaig Lodge which was absolutely wonderful. Regretfully we did not stay at the hotel but we did have a lovely evening meal and I would not hesitate to return in the future. The setting is truly magical - we will certainly be... More

Staying nearby, we popped in to book a table for dinner on the recommendation of some locals. It was apparently booked up until September, but we could eat there if we came at 6.30pm and vacated the table by 8pm. We came as planned and were greeted very warmly for dinner and offered a table by the window. The hotel... More

We stopped for some afternoon tea as we were passing and it was definitely worth it. We were made feel extremely welcome and the tea with shortbread hit the spot. Well worth the stop.

With wonderful views over the water to Gairloch the first impression as one walks through the front door is of a hotel with real character. There is a small friendly bar with more whiskies and gins so satisfy most clients plus two other rooms for residents to relax in after a busy day. The beds were very comfortable with good... More

We stayed for one night whilst doing the NC500. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The staff were very friendly and the service they provided was excellent. The venue was a welcome escape after a long drive. We are already thinking about a return visit.

This is a beautiful old hotel with lovely old dark wood furniture and leather couches. You don't ask for draught bear because it is bottled or malt. The restuarant was superb and the scallops were lovely. The people were so friendly both staff and other residents. I joined another resident for supper on my second night which made a very... More

A friend and I had a wonderful 1 nights stay at the Shieldaig Highland Lodge. It's been recently renovated to a very high standard; it's quite impressive. We had 2 rooms overlooking the loch and the views were stunning and incredibly comfortable. There's a couple of wonderful lounges to sit in, still enjoying the views, with good wifi access and... We'd stayed at Sheildaig a few years ago and were disappointed to see it had closed last year. However, it's now fully-functioning again. We'd lunch - perfect smoked salmon sandwiches. And we wished we could be staying overnight again. The reception was a delight and nothing was too much trouble for our waitress. After our lunch we spent time in... More

We booked for dinner Thursday evening and it did not disappoint. We were met by the very friendly and personable receptionist/barman/waiter who was multi tasking with great skill! The 3 course meal was delightful we had the soup and the venison, followed by the cod and rib eye steak. We finished our meal with sticky toffee pudding and cheese and... More

Mum, partner and I went for dinner mid-week. All pretty quiet but that definitely added to the enjoyment! The Shieldaig has a very comfortable, luxurious, peaceful and welcoming feeling from the moment you walk in. The restaurant has a sublime view overlooking the calm loch and its moored boats. The gentleman who served us was excellent; very friendly and attentive... More
