I have to fess up that this is our normal go to place after Yoga on a Thursday, so we get a warm welcome - or maybe it's the regular warm welcome that means it's our regular go to place. Last Thursday, after a bit of dithering ('how about a nice omelette?'), I went for the usual baked potato with beans and cheese "done the way the chef knows I like it"; almost immediately afterwards, needing another refill of water I stood at the door of the kitchen just in time to hear my order recounted "..and a Baked potato with cheese and beans with extra love and attention." (got extra cheese, too!). Why would you go anywhere else?

Thought this was a lovely place for hot drinks and cakes on a rainy afternoon. We sat in a room which looked like a living room with big sofas and coffee tables. Homely decor matched by the homely service by the lovely staff. Gluten free and dairy free options were available and it was nice to see loose leaf tea served in a pot. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and a place we would recommend.

We were recommended by a local tradesman, I had the most delicious breakfast ever and my wife a lovely omelette, both coffee and glass of orange each. The service was by some lovely friendly ladies who were very welcoming, I even got a sausage for my dog, We sat in the beautiful cottage garden, if Heineken made tearooms this would be it. Can’t fault it, would go back at a drop of a hat. Dave, Lizzie and Eric from St Albans.

Thanks Dave for your glowing review. I did laugh at the Heineken reference! I know it's not the same, but we are licensed to serve alcohol so you can try one of our local Hobsons beers when you are in next! And thank you to the tradesman who recommended us.

Previous visits would have seen me leaving a 5 star review but today's visit was underwhelming unfortunately - maybe just a blip? We like the quirky decor and usually the atmosphere, but it was very quiet there today. I have enjoyed numerous visits to Jemimas over the past few years. Not been in for a few months so I made a special trip to Church Stretton today with my daughter for a weekend treat before she went back to uni. The menu choice felt limited. I had the broccoli and camembert soup soup which was unfortunately unpalatable. My daughter had a baked potato, which was a reasonable price but undercooked. When I mentioned the soup as I paid they said they had had a few complaints about it and the aftertaste was probably caused by the white wine they had added. Shame they didn't think to mention this when I ordered it. I won't hurry back.

Thank you for your feedback, but if previous visits would have led you to write a 5-star review, I don't understand why you chose to write a 3-star review now and not give us the benefit of the doubt! I take all reviews seriously so I spoke to the staff about your comments. It seems there was an aftertaste to the broccoli and camembert soup and we are not sure why as we make it quite often. Lily, who served you, mentioned it may have been the particular wine we used but as for it being unpalatable, I am not so certain, as we never had any returned unfinished, yours included. We did have one or two comments, but as I understand it, no complaints. We wouldn't keep serving it if we did - what would be the point? As we do not charge customers for food which is not enjoyed, and as we have a new winter menu (available to view on our website) you may wish to come back before Christmas and we will offer you and your daughter a complimentary meal. As an aside, no matter how adventurous i would like to be with the menu, I have learned over the years what sells and what doesn't sell, so the format is pretty much the same - it just changes with the seasons. Hopefully, you will see something you like.

Oh my this was a superb experience. Myself and my husband had a fruit scone with homemade jam and clotted cream. This was served warm too, one of the nicest freshly made scones I have ever tasted. I had a cappuccino and my husband had the red berry fruit tea which in his words was absolutely amazing so fresh and tasty. Staff were very welcoming it’s a very quaint cafe. Love all the pottery too. We will definitely be back.

Thank you for your review and I'm pleased you liked the scones - they are my Scottish mother's recipe (who is the Jemima in Jemima's Kitchen)! We look forward to welcoming you back. Regards, Diane

We'd visited before and thought we'd return for a Cream Tea. Indoors, little had changed although some of the furniture and fittings were now looking tired and in need of some love and attention. A good clean, dust and tidy would have helped. We appreciate that items are freshly prepared, but service including ordering was slow. And finally, the cream tea was both more expensive than others bought on holiday this year, and not so nice as others.

Having read some previous reviews we stopped for lunch. After a friendly welcome we chose the cheese scone with butter, Black Bomber cheese & pickle. The scone was delicious, warm from a fresh baking and complimented by the strong cheese & pickle. A super lunch!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm pleased you enjoyed our scones. They are freshly baked in the cafe every morning, using my Scottish mother's recipe (which was probably given to her by my grandmother and to my grandmother from her mother ... I'd say it's been in the family a while - LOL) but that's the trouble with working in a cafe; every time I smell scones coming out of the oven, I want one. Add Netherend farm butter, Black Bomber cheese and chutney - irresistible! Hopefully, we'll see you back again soon!

A fantastic welcome every time, and THE most delicious cooked breakfasts with locally-sourced ingredients, cooked with care. Selfishly, I almost didnt write this review, in case I can't get a table next time we want to eat at Jemima's Kitchen. It's that good. Book, enjoy, and thank me later. :)

We went to Jemima's kitchen for brunch. Staff were really friendly and food was amazing. I opted for the banana French toast with bacon, cinnamon and creme fraiche. It was absolutely delicious. My partner had poached eggs on toast which were also perfectly cooked. A real treat!

Wow what a welcome! From the moment arriving to the moment we left we enjoyed exceptional service and food. The waitress even sorted out a table for our evening meal at the local pub she recommended for us to try. So friendly and choice of menu and quality what reason have you got not to call in.

Intriguing set of rooms to enjoy an afternoon tea in. Relaxing atmosphere with second hand and new books for sale on the shelves. Excellent scones (so popular we had the last 2) with proper clotted cream and choice of homemade jams. Proper teacups, teapots and strainers with loose leaf tea. What one wants from an afternoon tea and sadly many places fail to deliver when they offer tea bags, paper cups and stale scones.

Another fabulous visit. We weren’t able to get a table inside for Sunday breakfast as it was full (unsurprisingly), but our lovely waitress sat us in the glorious garden with a promise to seat us indoors as a priority should it get chilly or start to rain; luckily it stayed warm and dry. Our party of three had enjoyed the following dishes; full English, yoghurt with honey and walnuts, an omelette with ham/mushrooms and plenty of hand sliced toast served with lashings of fabulous butter. We had breakfast tea and cappuccinos. Every dish was beautifully presented, perfectly prepared and cooked and incredibly tasty. For a little over £20, it was great value too! Every time we have dined here we have found it to offer great service, a warm welcome and fabulous freshly cooked dishes all in a clean environment with a great atmosphere. A quick visit upstairs to the loo and I got to see the beautifully appointed guest rooms too. If I didn’t live so near, I’d happily stay! Will always come back when we are in Church Stretton as together with Rainbows End (a lovely gift shop just around the corner) and the deli over the road (closed Sundays), it makes for a lovely trip out. But don’t tell anyone; let’s keep it between us ;)

We visited from just up the road in Much Wenlock, for a change of scenery. A walk and a meal turned into just a meal, as the weather was really bad. So we went straight to Jemima's Kitchen, which had been recommended on this site. The place itself is lovely and feels like stepping back in time. A good choice of food was available and we had fishcakes and jacket potato, served with gorgeous salad. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The experience turned a wet and windy day into something memorable and it is safe to say that another visit will definitely be happening.

Lovely cafe, dog friendly (in the garden, not sure about inside), with character, great food , friendly staff & lovely home made cakes. Visited after a good walk up & over the long mynd, so had a much needed refuel (meant we could have lunch & a cake). We both had the Welsh rarebit & salad, which was excellent, both the carrot cake & Victoria sponge cakes are thoroughly recommended. We will be back

Thank you for your review, and I'm pleased you enjoyed your lunches. The carrot cake with ginger mascarpone frosting and Victoria sandwich are both so popular, we can't take them off the menu! And just FYI, if you were ever to return with your dog(s), we also offer dog-friendly seating indoors.

We stopped in Church Stretton for lunch on our journey south, and chose to visit Jemimas based on reviews. Not wanting a huge meal we both chose the granary baguette. It was a huge portion, with a nice salad and fruit chutney. It took a little longer to arrive than we expected - our hot drinks were already cold by this time, but otherwise a very enjoyable lunch in a clean and sanitised environment.
