Hard to find, especially as sign is covered in one direction by a tree, but attached to the fire station! We were lucky the fire engine was parked outside so had a bit of a clue. Wide choice of food and big portions. They open at 7 and all the tables were full by 8 pm the weekday evening we... More

Besides, you help a non profit organization (Firemen). Definitely recommended! (Won best "picada" of Chile Award, well deserved)

Loved the steak at this place which came with a huge pile of chips. Great local atmosphere but come early as it fills up. Went back the next night because it was great fun.

Casino Bombero was started by local Cohaique firefighters who were doing a lot of cooking anyway. They figured opening a restaurant next to the firehouse would not be a stretch and would bring in some extra money for the department. The idea was a good one and the result is a friendly, busy and very good locals restaurant. The menu... More

Chilean empanadas are huge. One would be good for a whole lunch. We had the carne option and it was delicious! The owner even gave me a cup of watermelon for free, nice!!

Hard to find a place open Sundays, but this did not disappoint. I was looking for something plain and the salmon cooked on a plank was good. Best pisco sour I had in Coyhaique. They do have an English language menu. It's tucked behind the fire station so you have to look for it.

Having been to several picadas in various cities, this one wasn't something special by any means, but pretty good. At a typical Chilean restaurant you can get simple grilled meat, chicken, and fish ; canned cold green beans, lettuce /tomato salad with vegetable oil as a dressing, and numerous incarnations of potato. So if that's the meal you want, they've... More

Don´t judge a book by its cover. We wouldn't have walked anywhere near it if our hotel proprieter hadn't talked it up. But it has nice picada (Chilean diner) fare: grilled meat, fries, conger soups, lettuce and tomato salads

Good home-cooked Chilean meals. The staff is capable and welcoming and the prices are very reasonable. Local beers and a small selection of wines available. Be sure to bring Chilean pesos because credit cards and US dollars are not welcome.
