"Everest Cafe" has been gone for about a year - replaced by "Himalayan Tandoori and Curry" (maybe whoever from Trip Advisor reviews my submission will adjust their website to reflect this. Decor is much improved and, luckily, it has not negatively impacted the food quality, which is still stellar. The Choila is different than that which was served by Everest.... More

We went looking for a Chinese restaurant on Solano Avenue in Berkeley, but found and settled on this Nepalese café. Service was good, not crowded but medium busy. A full menu with a number of choices, but I elected to have the goat curry. It was quite good, with a mild curry sauce. I could not have guessed it was... More

We did return...two separate dinner times. First time, we had the Goat Curry (mild), the Vegetable Biryani (mild), onion Naan, side order of basmati rice for the curry, and Napali Chai. So good, we came back for: shrimp tandoori (spicey), Mixed Tandoor (medium), Everest Biryani (medium), sides of rice and naan, Napali Chai, and Taj Mahal Beers. We all sampled... More

A thali (in this instance a rectangular metal tray divided into separate food compartments) for under $10 contains your choice of a nearly an all-you-can-eat vegetarian or non-vegetarian meal. I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala which was served with a papad, a... More

Solano St is a good hunting ground for alternative eats. Everest Cafe has been in business since 2010 and seems to be doing a good job as a local ethnic eatery. We went after an afternoon at the Berkeley Botanical gardens and we were hungry! We enjoyed the delicate Vegetable Pakoda's(Pakoras) and Lamb Sarai. The Shrimp Tandoori came with eight... More
