Incredible pastry, yes. But these folks have wonderful fresh salads and sandwiches and pizzas with amazing toppings (eg brown beech mushrooms + leek + truffle tartufata + burrata) and they will even put together a picnic basket for you. Discovered by chance, just walking along College Avenue, but now on our "must go back next time we're in Berkeley" list.... More

Wandered into this place for a mid afternoon bite. Had difficulty choosing between the delicious looking/sounding sandwiches and the pizza. Settled on the fresh turkey with cranberry sauce, sliced cheese and rocket lettuce.

Superb quality. Thoughtful preparation. Attention to detail. If this important to you... give them your money and you'll eat well.

lovely salads that reflect the seasons by weight, sandwiches and pizzas made on the spot...eat in or take out. everything is fresh and delicious and it's a friendly place to be. showing up for lunch before the official lunch hour begins means you have a better chance of getting a table but people share and sitting at the counter is... Great food, with a real eye toward that which is in season, well-prepared, easy to run in and run back out with a yummy dinner to enjoy at home. We find it expensive and the prices keep seem to climb (my daughter's favorite is the chicken dinner which used to be about $14 and now is about $20). So it's... More

The three of us had lunch. We ordered hamburgers and a salad. As before the dishes were superb. The service was nice with sweet and helpful staff. I am highly recommend this restaurant.

Despite its tight quarters, three of us found space for lunch at the Summer Kitchen Bake Shop. The key is to show up at 11:30-11:45 to avoid the inevitable rush and the line that starts around noon and that seems to grow and grow! Parking in the back lot is also easy at that time - a far better and... More

We stopped for an early dinner on a Saturday (5 pm) and there was no problem getting a table (at a busy time it may be hard to get a table since seating is limited). We had a Margherita pizza (nice crust and fresh flavors) and Braised pork shoulder over creamy polenta with an herb salad on top (very tasty).... More

The place is small and it seems to always be busy. No wonder. The food is good. We both had the hamburger with Gorgonzola and glazed onions. The bread was light and crispy and the hamburger juicy. It is a great place to have a meal or take-out.

Setting: Right on College in the busy area. Parking is on street (fee) or at the public parking at the back (also fee). It is a restaurant, where you order and food will be brought to you. Has a whitish vintage style with lots of light and a few tables. Expect to hit a waiting line for those free spots.... More
