As part of a birthday celebration for a friend, four of us enjoyed a wonderful meal at Julia's on Saturday evening. It turned out that it was Restaurant Week and so we each enjoyed an excellent 3-course meal for $35. The food was great, and the service was first rate. The wine list was also extensive and reasonably priced. After... More

Excellent food. Went with my daughter on my birthday. I ordered the sole. Loved every bite. Had a delicious apple tart for dessert. Served special with a candle. Wonderful atmosphere, food and service.

We live nearby and four of us decided to try this restaurant, a first for us long term residents. One of the reasons is that the food has never been very good, but we learned recently that the restaurant has a new chef and the reviews of his efforts have been very good. We can confirm this. This restaurant is... More

As members of the City Club we HAVE to eat here at least once per month. The obligation is also a pleasure. While the menu is small and doesn't change as often as I'd like it to (as a regular visitor), everything on it is delicious, carefully prepared, and artfully served. The chairs at the tables are pretty but mighty... More

The very good food and the credible wine are dwarfed by the setting of Julia's, a second floor former meeting room in the exquisitely funky Berkeley City Club, a 1920s-something creation of Julia Morgan, a legendary Berkeley architect (the first female graduate of the then School of Mechanical Arts) and the favorite of the Hearst family (the Hearts Greek Theatre,... The setting of the restaurant is certainly one of the highlights. Unfortunately, my steak did not really live up to the same level. It was not bad, but a bit dry. So next time I may try the lamb or the duck. But the service was good.

We shifted our annual birthday lunch celebration from the Chez Panisse Cafe to Julia's just to try someplace different. Julia Morgan buildings are truly gems, so before eating we explored the elegant yet slightly run down building. The restaurant is a large room with chandeliers and lots of space between tables. It was pleasantly quiet and calm. We ordered from... More

We were staying at the hotel and were told the restaurant was good. I have eaten quite a bit of duck, but I have never had a better duck breast then I did at Julia's. My husband agreed it was the best he'd ever had. The whole dinner was great. He had the spinach salad, gnocchi and salt cod croquette... More

Possibly the best duck breast I've had. The lettuce in the salad was as fresh as it can get. Great overall experience👌🏻

Eating here was a treat not just in terms of the beauty of Julia Morgan's architecture but the whole experience. It has a kind of old world feel and excellent service that is rare these days. The setting, the almost reverential quiet somehow encouraged a leisurely evening. The food was wonderful and in ordering two appetizers, I had more than... More
