I took my wife here for our anniversary. What a truly special evening and night to remember. Stefan and the team offer incredible Italian dining in a lovely atmosphere - true hospitality / Japanese omotenashi at its finest! Don't miss out on this Annupuri gem...next time you're in Niseko.More

This tiny restaurant offers two tasting menus, of which the more modest is 12 courses. It’s situated in a small cabin in a forest, 20 minutes out of Hirafu. It has four tables, a solid wine list and serves top notch Italian food with a...tiny tiny Japanese twist. Il Patrone is Stefan Stosik, a retired London / Hong Kong Englishman and long-time Niseko fixture. Stefan, his lovely wife, Chef and a young sous-chef make up the rest of the team. All in all this is a wonderfully excentric restaurant, an antithesis to the myriad of slick fakery restaurants operated and staffed by bored, arrogant milennial ski bums and of which I am heartily bored. There is only one sitting at La Casetta, so nobody is hoping you'll pay and bugger off soon; on the contrary, Stefan is a hugely welcoming host and loves talking about food and wine and although the serving is prompt it never feels rushed. All in all, I cannot recommend this little treasure of a restaurant high enough. It is simply wonderful. You must go!More

This is definitely the best fine dining Italian restaurant in town! We had over 12 courses and all the dishes was very delicious. Thank you Boss Stephen and his wife for their hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!

A big round of applause to Stephan, the owner of the restaurant, and to his wife as well! Food was absolutely splendid, and located in a cozy little cabin, the restaurant has a fireplace burning as well. I had a 12 course meal, and each...dish was delicately and thoughtfully prepared. Perfect way to end a long day on the slopes, amazing food, amazing atmosphere. With Italian music playing in the background, La Casetta is the perfect place for family or a romantic date!More

Amazing place, not only is the food brilliant (much better than Michelin Stared Italian restaurants in Hong Kong) but the service and atmosphere were beyond my expectations – very homely atmosphere, they have a wood burning stove in the main sitting area. You should definitely...try this place out, but they don’t make it easy as you have to book at least three days ahead. Also, make sure you are hungry when you go as they serve many courses – we had seven!More

Our AirBnB host helped us find this elegant (maybe 12 seats?) and charming Italian/Japanese fusion restaurant about 15" by taxi from downtown Niseko/Hirafu. We started dinner around 6:45 pm and would have wrapped up at about 9:30 pm Stefan and his wife have been inspired...by their love of Italian cuisine; their Japanese chef spent about a decade in Turin---and they have sourced the very best local Hokkaido ingredients they could find and it shows. It's a 8 dish, coursed experience---and they can match it to a Italian wine list with Barolo/Brunello/Nibbolo representations. It's novel and tasty to experience---and the setting encourages you to focus on and enjoy the company you came with---quiet enough for the whole table to hear each other, with service that doesn't intrude. It's not cheap to execute this sort of service, plating, and ingredients---per head was 19,000 yen--plus the wine. Value was worth it because of the exquisite quality of everything served. I think the only drawback is you can't drop in---with such a focus on local ingredients, you have to reserve ahead of time (Jeremiah Tower and Alice Waters once-and-now-of-Chez Panisse would appreciate this...)--if you are coming during holidays and don't drive, remember, you need to book your cabs days in advance it will be very hard to get one in the 6-7pm slot because: everyone wants one lol. This restaurant is tucked away 100m or so down a small side road on the way to the Annupuri gondola. Simple natural design with gorgeous log burner. Extremely friendly host/owner and outstanding food. A must "experiential visit" if you are in Niseko this winter.

I visited this restaurant with my friends. It was a bit hard for me to find it because it is located aside from the main roads. So I recommend you to check the location with Google Maps before you visit. The friendly owner welcomed us...and escorted us to our seats. The inside was timber lodge style with a nice fireplace. Antique chairs and tables with white linen were really comfortable. We had booked the 14,000JPY course and the quantity was amazing. We all got super full. There were 10 dishes, Bruschetta, seafood salad, egg with sea urchin on top and tripes, ahijo, steamed shellfish, cabbage soup, gnocchi, risotto, roasted venison and apple tart with caramelized meringue. The simple taste emphasized the flavor of the ingredients. The owner told us most of them came from Hokkaido or Italy. The seafood tasted really fresh, especially the steamed shellfish. My friends enjoyed the recommend wine from the owner. He has a good selection of Italian and French wines. When desert was served, the charming chef came out and caramelized the meringue for us. We especially liked the sour apple tart made from special British apples that refreshed us after eating the huge amount of food. I eat pizza and pasta very often but it was my first time to have a proper Italian meal. I really enjoyed the variety of Italian food and the combinations with local ingredients. The restaurant was so cozy and we stayed 3 hours! I had a gorgeous dinner, however it would be perfect if they had less expensive course with less quantity.More

Met Stefan and Hiroro, the owners who warmly met with us. Was told it was an exclusive dining experience, one of the few in Niseko. Food quality and taste were great! Service was superb! The second best part of the wine!! My children and I...truly enjoyed our dinner! Stefan even went all the way out to help me logistically. Hiroro was assisting me to get contact lens accessories. I’ll be back!More

Simply the best Italian food I have ever eaten anywhere in the world. The chef is Japanese, but knows more about how to prepare Italian food than Italian chefs.....a must dining experience when in Niseko.
