In my opinion, the sushi here is tasty and fresh, but the experience here cannot be compared to the great sushi restaurants of Tokyo, especially in the Ginza district. The lighting is a bit too bright. The hospitality and service are excellent.
I live in Japan, have a Japanese wife and am reasonably able to sort wheat from chaff, I think. I also am quite cynical about expensive restaurants in tourist areas, like Niseko. But this place is simply sublime. It’s hands down the best Japanese meal...I’ve had in many many many years. Perfection. If you can get in, go, and savour it. I was fortunate enough to be treated by a generous friend so have no idea what the bill came to; probably the price of a small car. Whatever it is, it’s worth it.More
Came here for medium tier course meal and it's always been as good as our previous visits. Fresh ingredients, and by comparison better than various establishments we've tried in other places including Kutchan. Staff have always been friendly and given excellent service. If you are...looking for a cheap eat, visit the food trucks in Hirafu or go to Kutchan.More
I was recommended by many of my friends and finally got there. I was amazed by the quality of the sushi and the price! The quality of the sushi was much more than what you would pay, so I asked the owner how it was...even possible to provide that great quality seafood for that small cost. The secret was, the owner has not only worked at prestigious sushi restaurants but he worked at wholesale seafood company as well so that he could get the best deals out of others. Indeed, he is getting the best fishes with best deal. How cleaver is he!! You don’t need to go there, so I can get a seat tonight! (Yes, it does get very hard to hold seats during winter. Book well ahead is must)More
Sushi and Sashimi is fresh, good and in generous portion. The rest of the other dishes are pretty average. Service is excellent. The price per head is too high, hence I will not come back again. Cheaper option of the same standard available in Kutchan...TownMore
I really wanted to try sushi in Hokkaido as fish is meant to be extra special and hanayoshi did not disappoint. Everything from starting sashimi to the crab and shrimp salad to the various sushi pieces were delightful. We also got to experience the famous...crab from Hokkaido- wonderful. Service was kind and attentive and sake menu impressive.More
We book our dinner through Hilton front desk staff. She told us that can not order a la card at the restaurant, have to book their course menu in advance. There is 3 courses menu ranh from 100$ over to 200$ over. We can’t book...different course but have to book the same course and have to take 3 same course(we are 3) even I told her that my daughter doesn’t eat much Japanese food. We have no choice to accept it coz hotel restaurant was full too. When we arrive there is a family with 4, they can enjoy only 2 courses with some a la card dish ( their children don’t eat sashimi)???? Then a couple walk in without reservation, they can get table and order what they want from the menu???? We feel like got cheated. I did ask the restaurant staff that is it true we have to order course in advance, they confirmed it. Food is so so, nothing special. You know, Hokkaido is known for fresh seafood. So every restaurant has good quality sushi, even their sushi at supermarket is better quality than some restaurant in our country. It is not right to treat tourist this way. Never recommend this restaurant to my friend.More
I'd have to concur with all the reviews that led us here to Hanayoshi - the quality of ingredients, and the quantity served in the omakase course was unparalleled and more than abundant! In terms of memorable dishes, I'd highlight the beautiful sashimi plate, followed...by the restaurant's signature seafood salad as well as the whole crab. As for the sushi, I would characterize it as average; what I found slightly lacking despite the quality of the fish was the thickness of the fish relative to the rice in the nigiri sushi. I found it on the thin side. The tempura, however, was a let down. The tempura batter was slathered on thick, and was dense, and got to be soggy pretty quickly. Somehow the shishito pepper avoided this calamity, but the shrimp and squid bore it full frontal. Service was top notch, and they checked on our food allergies that we had previously communicated. What fell through the cracks, and what we failed to mention while we were there, was that we had also specified a child's portion omakase for our 6 yr old. As we began to notice halfway through, he also received adult sized omakase courses. It strikes me as a little odd that the restaurant were attentive to the food allergies, but not to the specification of a child's omakase (which they had offered via our concierge).More
This is definitely one of the best Sushi restaurants I have visited in the last 2 years. I was here with my Family and we enjoyed the Chef's Omakase (around 15000Yen p.P.) and were surprised by the abundance. One dish after another arrived - Sashimi...of several kinds such as: Herring (incl. its delicate roe), fatty tuna, salmon, etc - followed by a great crispy Seafood Salad, Snow Crab, Sushi, Grilled Salmon Belly, Hokkaido Pacific Oysters, the best Miso soup I ever had. An amazing professional team is working here and one can tell they all love their job and know all about it. Apart from that the atmosphere is was fabulous. One tiny little downside was that no-one asked us about allergies or possible dislikes. So we did not eat the Sea-Urchin and I had a bit of a distaste after the Oyster since Pacific Oysters have a very different taste bouquet to Atlantic Oysters. After all.... a great night to remember.More
I’m fortunate to have dined at many of Tokyo’s to rated Japanese restaurants, including several of the more famous. This place is of a comparable quality. The seafood salad is a must. The sashimi and sushi are so fresh. The melon ice cream is amazing....I wish we could dine here more often. Reservations a must - at least 30 days in peak ski season.More
We come here every time we are in Niseko. The sashimi and sushi are outstanding. I would eat here every day if I didn’t have to take a cab from the Hirafu village. It’s 4 miles total which isn’t far but in winter weather it’s...far. Get the omikase and enjoy the local sake! I didn’t like the hairy crab or mackerel but others in my group loved them.More
We had a big group of 12. The omakase was truly incredible. The best sushi experience I’ve had, better than jiro and kanesaka (Michelin Tokyo based restaurants). The sake in the crab shell was a cool experience too.
We booked a lunch table because they were fully booked for dinner during our stay in Niseko. We had to push our reservation back by an hour or so because of an activity that we had booked and they were extremely patient and understanding when...we called. We were shown to a lovely table for 6 in a pleasant corner and learned that at lunchtime they do not offer the full menu. We opted for the sushi and sashimi sets, which did not disappoint. Neither did our beer or sake. Everything was excellent and tasted at least as good as it looked. Our waitress was charming and had a wonderful sense of humour. We will definitely return when we are next in NIseko, but will definitely book ahead to try dinner here.More
Had Omakase once and lunch set once. But were fun experiences. Its definitely one of the better sushi in the area. I wouldn't say its world class, but its a solid recommendation.
