Went based on the reviews here as there is so much choice in Carmel. Slightly mystified by all the 4/5 star reviews. Sunday night so only 14 diners of a 42 seat capacity (checked their H&S notice). Greeted by waiter who was superficially polite but...More

We like sitting at the bar and visiting with the bartender, ordering a few appetizers and wine before dinner.

Centrally located among the shops & restaurants in Carmel. The butternut squash ravioli is not to be missed. It is in the most delicious light cream sauce. Nice atmosphere.

We stayed at the Heritage House, and felt this restaurant, was in walking distance. We went there 3 times, and the service went down each time. The last time was the worst. Seating was friendly enough, although, we did feel like they did not particularly,...More

I decoded to have dinner one evening as I had already eaten at the two "sister" restos. Given that I dined alone, the service was outstanding and I was made to feel very welcome. The salad and main course were delicious but the dessert left...More

We went for the first time to this cozy Italian place at the recommendation of friends and we so looked forward to the meal. We sat down and the waiter/bartender came over and rattled off the specials so quickly that no one could remember what...More

Really really lovely meal, fabulous food and very friendly attentive staff. Great gluten free options- pizza and pasta! We arrived late and they were very accommodating- didn't rush as at all! Dad said linguine was the best he had ever had! Would recommend!

In reading the reviews, da Giovanni had good reviews. We were very disappointed, but it could have been an off night. Our hotel recommended the restaurant and I am not sure why. We arrived at 7:00 pm and were the only two people in the...More

If you like being nestled among towering pines while enjoying Carmel ocean views and spectacular sunsets, or dining at romantic tables in cliffside Mediterranean cafes, da Giovanni is your place. Firok Shield and his restaurant family operate this Carmel restaurant with careful attention to detail and a love of hospitality, offering a fusion of recipes handed down from his grandmother, such as Insalata Greca or Osso Buco. It's no wonder da Giovanni is one of the most highly recommended.
