Semi-unique idea when it first opened. Pay to cook your own steak...which has never resonated as a cool thing for me personally...but it is a nice atmosphere. I recently had dinner there with my family and opted for the Scallop and Shrimp dinner. Starting with the good: The waiter was a nice guy who built a good rapport with us... More

Great family place with choices for all. Kids though it was great fun to cook their own food on the grill and everyone got something different.

This restaurant has been in business for a long, long time, and it seems that many of the people were locals. We have seen the cook you own steak restaurant done better in Iowa, but given the location and size of the restaurant they do a very good job. The quality of the meat is very good. The salad bar... I'm more of a chicken eater, but boy, was that steak amazing!! Who would've thought you could cook a perfectly medium steak in a total of 8 minutes! A must try for sure!!!

Although I grew up in Carpinteria I never ate here until about 3 years ago, it was a surprise to learn that I had to cook my own steak. They will also cook for you if you ask. Good steaks.

Hot damn this is a fun place where you can drink inexpensive margaritas and cook your own steak, chicken or fish! I know, I know...why would you want to go out to a restaurant and cook your own protein? Because it's fun, different, enjoyable and because life is short. Local entertainment is, I think, nightIy. You can order your steak,... More

We love dining here whether we are camping at the state beach or staying at a motel for a quick getaway . The place is casual yet has a fine dining feel with the table setting. Help yourself salad bar(great dressings) and another bar for bread , beans and baked potatoes .AYCE! Throw your entree on a communal grill and... More

Unique bar and grill. You can grill your own steak over the pit, or have them do it for you. You can't lose! The fixin's are great, the atmosphere laid back and right near the beach in Carp. I live in Guam, and make this a "must go" every time I go back to the states! There is only one... More

I like to go out and be served, not cook my own meal. I cook enough without having to do that when I go out. This is definitely a throwback, so if you're into that type of thing, you'll probably love it. Just not my thing. Also, they have live music. If you love it loud, this is your spot.

The Palms is an excellent place to eat dinner, celebrate a milestone or just hang out! By grilling your meat yourself, you can be assured it's seasoned & grilled to your liking. The Salad Bar has excellent choices: greens (of course), onions, carrots, beets, baked potatoes, BBQ beans, AND the BEST croutons around! The croutons are made fresh & are... More
