A step back in time - live music, stirred cocktails, and red meat. Lack of options got us here, ambiance will draw us back.

My son looked up this establishment on his phone. What hooked him was the "Live Music" and Menu. Walking in was a time warp to the Sixties and Seventies with live piano and vocals, and a well dressed welcoming host. We were quite surprised by the music and atmosphere, and I was shocked my son pick this place. He never... More

"Real old" place, "original" crowd, nice bar, straight forward set up, "old" style service, food well prepared, nothing fancy, nothing original but pretty pleasant, absolutely "basic" presentation. Historical "neighborhood" restaurant that overall, is ok if you like "one" way "time transportation".

Joined several colleagues for dinnner here last night. This was my first visit, but I bet this place hasn't changed one bit since it opened in 1967. The service was decent and they had a good pianist and vocalist. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the food. My prime rib was mediocre at best, lots of fat and way... More

Went to Dear John's to celebrate a birthday and could not have been more pleased. We've been driving by this spot with curiosity for years and finally visited. Excellent service, good food, fun entertainment and a really friendly, comfortable atmosphere.

Dear John's has been in Culver City forever. It's a local "watering hole" but also has great steaks on the menu. It's a small place, so call for reservations. On the weekends they often have assigned hours for tables - and I think they give you about 2 hours to complete your meal. During the week it's more casual and... More

Took my wife out for a romantic dinner at Dear John's. I have had several recommendations on what a great place this is and I live around the corner. So finally got my wife to go and we had a great time. Was Friday night so it was busy and lucked out getting a small table in the corner near... More

Went for drinks after a nice family dinner. Excellent drinks and friendly people. Wish there was more room at the bar, though. Once we were turned away as there was no room unless we were having dinner.

We were visiting Venice and decided to see if there were any restaurants that also had a full bar. We came across Dear Johns. We walked from our hotel as it was a 15 minute walk. This place is a hidden gem. Pleasantly surprised as we walked into a mood lite setting with a full bar and piano player. Dinner... More
