Looking for that really good barbecue place. STILL LOOKING. The sauce was pretty good and the meat ok, but nothing that blew my socks off and not a place to come back to. I do expect my eating experience to be clean and maintained. This place is good for kids that make messes and you don't have to feel guilty... More

Tonight we went to our favorite BBQ place. How sad dinner was. New person cutting the meat and it was cut so thin you could see though it, very dry with not tease. I ordered to #9 a large ham plate and it was nothing but shaved pieces and the size of my son small ham plate. So sad because... More

This restaurant chain has been open since 1947. I've haven't been around that long but can verify its been a family favorite for at least 50 of those years. I personally like it better than Phil's (sorry Phil). The sauce goes great with Ham and Beef sandwiches.

I grew up eating at the Barbecue Pit, it is a family tradition. Over the years it has not changed, why mess with perfection? The sauce is unique and addicting. I have loved it for 30 years and now when I go home I always make time to order my barbeque beef sandwich plate with fries. A trip home to... More

Nothing fancy, just goid food. Reasonable prices for big plates of food. I like the beef and the ham and my boyfriend usually orders the beef ribs. No waiting, they carve meats right there in front of you. I recommend Barbeque pit.

I have enjoyed meals here often and always felt a personal connection to the employees who treat customers like family. The price is right for plate lunch and dinners. Highly recommended.

I can't believe I forgot about this place. Really good beef dinner plate. I love the slaw. Lots of food for your money. High quality. Great service. Nice interior. Plenty of parking. Oh yeah and some of the best desserts you can find. Boysenberry pie, don't see that very often. A must try if you are in El Cajon and... More

I stopped in to load up for the superbowl game with BBQ ham and pork ribs for the gang. Only about 6 people were in line buying mostly the terrific meal plates to eat right in the restaurant. The lady in front of me bought a bowl of split pea soup as a mid-afternoon snack. As you get to the... More

This place has been in the San Diego area for many years and has continued in popularity. The food is basic, the service is fast and the prices are reasonable. This is not a fancy place but it is comfortable. It is and feels like a neighborhood restaurant.

Things have not change here (except the prices) for the last thirty years. And I love that! Best BBQ (wet-style) ever! You want good beef, ribs (both types), chicken, pork, you go to the Barbeque Pit. Sauce is still excellent. Beans are the best. I only wish they still gave you the roll and butter when you order the #1... More
