Went with my girls, one other table had people and the rest of the place was empty for lunch. Paid $15 for bad food, fifteen each. Soup was clearly left overs from previous meals, chicken was dry, salad was a small bowl of lettuce. The best part is usually the bread but it was old too. I really wanted to... More

This place is like eating at mom's! You eat what's placed before you. There menu is simply awesome. Take note with the simply. For breakfast, biscuits and gravy and whatever else they are cooking that day. That is all. There are no options, no confusing menu's to have children squabble over. It's great! Food is all you can eat for... More

Must see Humboldt locals spot. Great place to visit. The food is served family style all you can eat at long benches. You dont get a menu you just get what they are cooking that day. Like they used to when they feed the mill workers.

This lumberjack-themed cookhouse serves its meals family style, at long tables. My son and I had a hearty breakfast of all-you-can-eat French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. The wait staff were genuine and friendly. There's something utterly charming about it all, and the food was good. These cookhouses were once common in the West; now it is... More

A client recommended this place and we had some of the best food we ever experienced. Old home cooking, served family style. The service was excellent, our server told us great stories about the history of the Cookhouse and we plan to return next year to try their lunch and breakfast!

This is a family style restaurant with basic menu that changes every day. It consists of long tables and cookhouse style eating. The breakfast menu is as to be expected, the lunch menu is a single entree with side dishes and dinner is the lunch menu plus one additional entree. It is fun one time, and is famous as a... More

The Samoa Cookhouse is not the same fun and good food place that it used to be. The prices have gone up and the food quality has gone down. We were there for the first time in a while and were very disappointed. Apparently the word must be out because there were very few people there. The bread was still... More

The Somoa Cookhouse located west of the City of Eureka across the Somoa Bridge is a truly unique experience. The building was the mess hall of the saw mill. The meals very by day and are served to guests at a single table family style. For example, when we visited the lunch meal of the day was 'Fried Chicken'. The... More

It's uniqueness has as much to do with the rating as does the service and food. It was a logging camp cookhouse that has been in operation for 150 years. Family style dining with good food and friendly service. Museum on site is worth checking out. My husband found this place because of his interest in logging history and it's... More
