We’d heard that this was a good restaurant, and it’s next door to the Glendale Mall, where we do a lot of shopping. Armed with a few names of recommended dishes, we went for lunch. More preparation would have been better, because we didn’t know anything about Philippine food. The menu has detailed lists of ingredients for each dish, and... More

Craving for a taste of home, I brought my wife and daughter to this restaurant in Glendale . Having arrived before 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday, we avoided the early dinner rush and the usual wait, and was promptly seated to the dining area. As expected, the crowd is predominantly Filipino, with a sprinkling of Caucasians. Max's of Manila traces... More

Patrons do not mind lining up to get into this unpretentious family style dining place. Located on the corner of Melrose and Vine, Mario's Peruvian Seafood Restaurant serves tasty food and heaps of it. The restaurant has a loyal following who enjoys generous servings of such crowd-pleasers like saltado beef or chicken served with seasoned rice. There is an extensive... More

So pleased to have filled my craving for Max's in Glendale. I've loved their fried chicken as far as I can remember, even in the 70's in Manila. We ordered a whole fried chicken, sinigang and of course, halo-halo for dessert. I will be back when I visit LA again.

I tried their pancit canton, fried chicken, dinuguan and, of course, halo-halo. The food was good, but not great... like one or two ingredients were missing from each dish that they just don't have that oomph factor, but still good enough to eat. The prices were very reasonable, though. And the place has a very friendly and charming feel to... More

Max's is an institution in Manila. Fil-Ams welcomed the opening if its California branch. Known for its tasty, juicy fried chicken, the place offers Filipino noodle (pancit), vegetable (pakbet and lumpia or spring roll), meat (adobo, kare or oxtail stew, sinigang or sour tamarind soup with pork) dishes. All delicious done in traditional recipes. But indigestion can kick in with... More

We made it customary to eat at Max's every time we come back to Glendale from Sydney. We had tried both Max's in Hawaii and out of the three we prefer Glendale Max's. We tend to have the Shanghai egg rolls, fried chicken and the Pork Sinigang. If you still have space for dessert, have the Halo Halo.

I eat Filipino food, but this place just didn't do it for me for some reason. The pork sisig was average to say the least, but the fried chicken, which is what this restaurant is famous for was wonderful. The mango juice was very good too. I would visit this restaurant again but only for the fried chicken.
