Bartender far more hospitable than the hostess. He was very helpful, patient + cheerful. Helped us order drinks + food. We ordered the pear salad, pasta w/burrata + chicken parmesan. All good but not great. The Hostess impacted our experience in a negative away. It...reminded us how we were treated in Salzburg 4 years ago...More

Got a pizza to go and brought it back to the inn where we were staying. One of the worst pizzas we have ever had. Spongy crust and very sweet tomato sauce. Threw most of out. What a waste!

Food was excellent (though salmon at $36 was pricey). Outdoor patio with fireplaces and heaters was lovely. Amanda was a very good waitress. Two people immediately wished us a happy anniversary when we sat down. Amanda offered us an anniversary dessert. Very lovely dining.

I am a local of Half Moon Bay and have lived in the coast for 23 years. It’s italia used to be my favorite restaurant. Now it is just an overpriced place that seems to have lost the quality it had before. Very sad to...see my favorite restaurant become one of those tourist type places where people perhaps come once and never again. Also, the patio was very messy…chairs of all sizes in a corner, spider webs in the canopy and somewhat stuffed with tables.More

CHICKEN MARSALA entree ----was SOOOO disappointing. The marsala "wine" was soup-like in texture and blended into the garlic mashed potatoes making the entire dish look like soup/slop after just a few bites. (They even serve it in a soup plate but they'd do well to...provide a soup spoon for eating aid.) Also could not taste any wine in the Marsala. Extremely disappointing to say the least. Unfortunately, this restaurant has gone downhill from how I knew it to be a year+ ago. Others in our group mentioned how the presentation and taste of their dishes were also lacking although it was a group who didn't wish to complain or make a fuss. Everyone pretended they thought the food was great "in the moment" but in my post-dinner conversations with a few individuals, they too felt that the dining experience was not quite up to scratch. The service was ok. Abit rushed but not terrible. Desk staff were chatting amongst themselves and not paying much attention to the clientele I noted. Sadly, the experience has put me off going back or recommending to others/work etc.More

We were pointed here by a local after we bought a sweatshirt down the street as he said he was going to end up there later to meet friends. He was true to his word and was there after we got there, showing that this...spot was actually loved by the locals. We split a wedge salad with slow cooked bacon and a great dressing before having the calamari steak. It was better than I could have hoped. Tender and breaded lightly with leeks, potatoes, and a lemon sauce. I barely have words to describe it. Great drinks too. We had to keep driving back to San Francisco that night or we would have stayed and kept eating and drinking. I will find a way to get back here as soon as I can, even from out of state. Also, they took great care of us at the bar as walk ins, so don’t be afraid to see if there’s a spot even if you don’t have reservations. This was a great find in the way I love to do it - with sincere ideas from locals.More

Really nice food, good service, great atmosphere, the place was bustling, a pleasant change from the stereo typical fried food we’ve encountered so far on our visit, would definitely return and would highly recommend.

We booked our anniversary dinner at It's Italia and couldn't be happier! We were given one of the best tables in the house (outside on the patio with our own fireplace and heating lamp, as the early evening was rather chilly). We were very comfortable....Our waiter was excellent and we both ordered the basil pesto gnocchi and the pasta was fresh, fresh, fresh. We chose caesar salads and it was a lot to eat, but we managed. The focaccia bread was delicious, as was the tiramisu and the key lime pie. We wish this restaurant was closer to home, as we would fast become regulars.More

We were mountain biking around Montara and this restaurant was recommended by a local. Turns out she knows her local restaurants. We started with some wine. The wine was one of the few things I thought fell short during our meal. Between my wife and...I we had four different wines by the glass and none were outstanding. A Chardonnay was the best of the bunch but the two reds were not very complex even though both the Super Tuscan and the Barolo should have been. The wines were not bad, they just were not at the level of the rest of the meal. The bread, however was excellent. For food, we started with the Roasted Tequila Clams and Mussels. They were outstanding, the highlight of the entire meal, Fantastic and a generous portion. I was in the mood for pasta and our server recommended the Baked Penne Alla Vodka. My first bite I took I thought was good but not great but my second our third bite I got a nice helping of the ragu and it went from good to delicious. My wife had the Slow Roasted Short Ribs and they were simply fantastic. Highly recommended. We also had the beet salad and it too was excellent and beautifully presented. It tasted very fresh. For desert we had the special strawberry shortcake. Like the wine, not up to the rest of the meal. The service was very friendly but we sat at the bar and they simply were overwhelmed. The two guys behind the bar were working their butts off but between mixing drinks for the whole restaurant and trying to serve the large number of patrons sitting around the bar it was hard to get their attention. A third person was simply needed back there. The atmosphere inside was very inviting, it felt very Italian, and was comfortable. Later in the evening it did get almost unbearably hot inside however. It as a cool evening so I don’t know, bring in some outside air somehow? It was hot enough toward the end of our meal I had to go outside to cool down. Prices for what we ordered and the generous portions seemed reasonable. Not inexpensive mind you, but fair. A better selection of wines by the glass and a tastier desert would have put this place over the top for us. Excellent none-the-less.More

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at It's Italia - our first time visiting. As soon as we walked in the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. We had reserved a seat on the patio, which was sheltered enough to not feel the wind,...and they had coverings and heat lamps as well to provide a nice balance of open-air and comfort. Our reservation mentioned we were celebrating a special occasion, and throughout the dinner our server made the night feel special as well. The food was all delicious. We enjoyed the shrimp appetizer, the minestrone soup, an artichoke ravioli and a special halibut entree. Anyone looking for something a little on the quick side might have felt things moved slowly. Only having been there once, I don't know if that's typical or if they might be short-staffed like many places are these days. However, we were in no rush at all and appreciated the relaxed pace to extend a special evening.More

What an excellent way to spend our Anniversary at such a wonderful welcoming restaurant. We made reservations on line and when we arrived, we were seated right away. Our waiter surprised us with 2 glasses of Prosecco. We ordered the octopus appetizer, which was cut...up in small chunks over a bed of sliced thin anise. Extremely tender snd not chewy at all; delicious!! Our dinner plates were cooked to perfection !! The waiter checked on us once in a while to see how we were doing. Our desert consisted of our favorite-tiramisu.More
