My family and I decided to get some Chinese cuisine and go eat it at La Jolla Cove. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. The service was very quick, even though we did not stay to eat, the service was nice. The parking was not great; there was very few spaces and they were mostly tight. We Got:... More

Our dinner was very good with the highlight being the ability of the chef to have all of the entrees done to perfection as far as tenderness. There was some differences in the recipes as to how I am use to having them prepared. For example, one of my favorites is cashew chicken. Usually it has a sauce on it... More

Very good food, with improvement needed for wait service and décor. We ordered: • Hot & Sour soup • Shrimp w/lobster sauce - Mushrooms, bamboo shoots, & Water chestnuts in a rich and decadent lobster sauce. • Chinese vegetables with chicken - Sliced Chicken breast and lots of assorted Vegetables cooked in a brown sauce. • Egg fried rice. We... More

After 1 hour we had not even received the tea. Our waiter said he was doing his best and clearly he was, it was just a lack of staff. The food was generally good when it came unfortunately some of it was cold as it clearly had been sitting in the kitchen for a long time. We will not be... More

The lunch special was a good deal and it was delicious. The wait staff did a good job of explaining the menu and selection.

The service was remarkable. Very polite. The food was good, but alittle on the pricey side. I probably wouldn't go here again because of that.

We were visiting local friends and they suggested this restaurant as one of their favorites. Our take out dinner was delicious and we had a pleasant exchange with the owner while seated at the small bar area while waiting for the food. The Peking duck was a hit with some; although I was not enamored with the flavor it was... More

Very excellent, high quality food. Flavors aren't mundane. Been simulates where everything tastes the same. A little pricy. Spent $100 for 6 people. Best dish was a scallop dish my son got. Service was great. Waitress was great with my kids. She was able to keep them entertained with cookies etc. Trust me my kids are a handful.

We have been serving the same classic Chinese recipes since we opened in 1977. We are La Jolla's favorite Chinese restaurant going on 3 generations and have continuted to be family owned and operated. Our unique flavors and recipies have been derived from classic Peking and Sze Chuan techniques. We boast many signature dishes that are original Mandarin House recipies such as our Kung Pao and Cashew Chicken, as well as our Smoked Chicken with Mandarin Seaweed, Salt and Pepper Chicken and our handmade Egg Rolls and Dumplings. Additionally, we bring the best version of your old favorites including Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Beef and Broccoli and even Peking Duck which is still handcarved tableside. We make all our sauces and marinades from scratch as well as our chicken stock fresh daily. We roast all our own meats and believe that our key to success all these years has been controlling every ingredient and process into creating all of our dishes. We are open for Lunch daily (except sunday) and offer Monday-Friday, 11am-2:30pm lunch specials. We deliver nightly from 5pm-9pm in La Jolla and Pacific Beach. Call us for take out or reservations. We can accomodate large parties up to 40. So thank you for thinking about dining at the Mandarin House. Our family friendly atmosphere and delicious food and cocktails will be sure to fill your bellies and put a smile on your faces. Come see what all the fuss is about. See you at The Mandarin House!!
