We eat here all the time for lunch since I work in La Mesa. I can't recall ever getting anything that wasn't at least very good. With all the good choices for Mexican food around, Marios is exceptional and consistently good. My favorite is the fish tacos. I've never had them done the way Marios does them. The are chunks... We come here often. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and they make our entire family (kids from 3-9) feel welcome. I love the fish tacos, and my husband always orders the carne asada. Expect leftovers, as portions are large! I can't to come back soon!

After being told to try this place, I finally did. I was glad that I did, food was really good and the portions had a good size. Chips with salsa to start out with. I would have given this place a 5 star, the only reason I didn't was because if the parking and the how small the restaurant was,... More

A La Mesa institution. Always good quality; that is why they have been around for so long! The best fish tacos I have ever had. Mario doesn't come in anymore but the family keeps it going in the same tradition as Mr. Tijuana (Mario).

We come here often. The food is delicious, the service is excellent. Their Chili Rellano is one of the best we have ever had. My husband loves the Chichen Enchiladas with Mole Sauce. Their burritos are also huge and packed with delicious fresh food!!!

Very disappointed. I would have given one and a half stars if I could. Chips, salsa and guacamole were better than average but the rest was just okay. I had a surprise in my beans, a piece of plastic. Yuck! I notified the server who I asked to notify the kitchen which she did. They found the source of the... More

My favorite dish on the menu was Chile Colorado. Possibly the best I have ever eaten. "NO LONGER" The last time I ate there, a few years ago, Mario was the owner and Chef. He is no longer the owner or in the kitchen, and the Chile Colorado was awful. I am not going to be evaluating anything else on... More

This has been our favorite spot for years! The seafood soup served on weekends is really excellent! Also enjoy grazing on the bunuelos!
