I had chicken and waffles for dinner. Simply delicious. I also had breakfast there, but now that I typed chicken and waffles I can't remember what I had for breakfast. LOL

Barlo is a Hotel Restaurant... just to say that tells a big non-secret... don't go. Barlo is a secret... GO! A unique little hideaway restaurant in this unique hotel - ERWIN. The ambiance is great, the food is far more than great, and you feel that you are in a place where everyone is happy - young or old -... More

I must say I have been passing by this place for along time and what a mistake I was making not dining sooner!! Being a local I try to stay away for hotel restaurants as many of them in the area lack the true California flavors but Barlo is spot on and truly impressed me in many ways with it's... More

This time around it was not breakfast in bed like in June...but the food was equally delicious. The toast with poached eggs and avocado cream tasted just as great as then. The American Breakfast plate with eggs, toast, potatoes and sausages was big and also excellent. My Café latte was strong as I like it and did born we'd the... More

It was room service breakfast...and just great. The pancakes with buttermilk and strawberries were huge but tasted very light, not being overly sweet, and the toast with poached eggs, avocado and chili looked really tasty. The cappuccino was not the typical Italian cappuccino, but it was ok.

It is nice to have a good restaurant in a hotel, because when hunger strikes a good meal is a call away. The toast with avocado and poached eggs was excellent, so were the buttermilk pancakes with strawberries. Overall an excellent breakfast experience (in bed).

The food was excellent! We had the strawberry pancakes with lemon sabayon and the breakfast tacos. Both were sooo delicious! Service was also excellent! Highly recommend!

So there's a lot of great places to eat in Venice, Barlow just happens to be in the Erwin, and that makes it easy. Not a huge menu, but passable, with a great staff and service. Food is good.

They open at 7am for breakfast. Great for early risers like us. Limited meny, but everything is delicious. And again the servers etc are so friendly and helpful.

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
