Stopped in for a late night snack. La cabaña is open until 3. Typical old school Mexican restaurant menu until you come across the Chile rellenos. Great flavor, no batter. Service is efficient and friendly.

This is one of those old neighborhood Mexican places that looks like it's been around forever but is solid on all the basics. A bit dark and old fashioned inside yet the service is friendly and the menu has all the classic Heavy Mexican favorite on it. The tableside fresh made guacamole is among the best I've ever had. The... More

La Cabana has been around forever and it is just okay. The best thing about it is they make their own tortillas and they are really great. Other than that the food is only fair. The service is good and they offer good portions. The place is old and has not been kept up, but parking is easy and the... More

Definitely get the guacamole. They make it in front of you at the table. One of the best I ever had! Huge portions on the entrée. We had leftovers which we took home. The salsa was a bit too spicy for me and I asked for the milder one which they gave me at no charge. Loved the décor. Highly... More

The food was great, it's generously served. The salsa sauce was spicy but not too much. Service was fast and good. For two (with one soft drink and one margharita) : 50$ which is very reasonnable.

This restaurant has been here for many, many years. The atmosphere is cute inside, there is a woman making tortillas by hand which are excellent and they have a huge menu. I don't find the food to be anything fantastic, just ordinary, and a bit greasy. It is not one of those trendy restaurants that are popping up all over... More

Had a real fulfilling meal on a Friday with some friends. We had guacamole from heaven prepared by the table by the waiter. Refreshing Margatitas. My enchiladas with shrimp and spinach were well made, I just found the combo of much cheese and shrimp a little weird. But that's my tastebuds. The whole experience was good!

Been going here for 20 years. Food never changes and that is good! Lovely to see the same waiters and hear the same romantic trio playing on weekends. Strong drinks, dark, homey atmosphere. A real local gem

We live in Venice and have been to La Cabana many times. Last night was a disappointment. We had our daughter, son-in-law and infant grandson with us. As we pulled up to the restaurant, we noticed there was no valet. There's really no place to park-as parking in the shopping center lot will probably get you towed. There is street... More

The corn tortillas were really good, but otherwise no surprises. Maybe making guacamole tableside, but the chips were pretty average. I had a quesadilla with crab which was good but didn't sing. A little bowl of wan tortilla soup came with it. The rice was seriously undercooked. Margaritas by the pitcher were ok. Overall a very pleasant place though.

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
