Best place in Venice Beach. Really great service; look for Don at bar. Amazing vibe and cool relaxing atmosphere. Very sheik.

Great casual restaurant near the beach with high quality food in a relaxed environment. If you want a cheap restaurant on the Venice boardwalk this may not be a fit, but for a nicer meal a block off the beach James Beach is perfect. The best server in the world works here---her name is J.J. and if you are lucky... More

We ate here and had the fish tacos- very mediocre, definitely not worth the $75 cad for one order of fish tacos and 2 cocktails. When we checked our visa statement they had charged us for someone else's bill as well racking up our grand total to $134 cad. We have heard of places using people's cards to cover other... More

The restaurant fits the area - local feel, friendly crowd, good casual food and pretty good service. Exactly as uncomplicated as you would expect a place like this would be in a place like Venice Beach. Very chill!

OK. You have probably seen the movie "I love you man", so you know of that place. Good points: - internal courtyard, - easy to park. - nice cocktails and beers, - good service, - not crowded when we were there, - excellent fish tacos!! 😊 - close to the beach promenade, to digest the tacos.😉 Bad points: - none... My fiancée and I booked a table at this restaurant during our stay at Venice Beach in October. We were told to try the fish tacos – as this is what the place is known for. We did ‘ and they were yummy!! Then after dinner they started folding away the tables and more and more people started gathering at... More

The other reviews for James' was all about the Tacos and the Mahi Mahi. My group tried the Tacos and each order was enough for 2 people - and very, very good Tacos. The Angus Burger was also a hit. We tried the Macaroni & Cheese, but I can't say it was worth getting. I've had much better. But the... More

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
