The Slippery Shrimp was soooo good my husband can't stop talking about it! I also got the slippery chicken and it was amazing too. It's an original recipe of breaded shrimp or chicken with a sweet and tangy sauce on it. I would say the consistency is somewhat like sesame chicken. It says on the menu that it's spicy, but... A friend suggested we have our business dinner at Yang Chow. Great spot. And judging by the photos on the walls, lots of famous Angelenos feel the same. Have the Slippery Shrimp.

Yang Chow was recommended to us by a local. We (wisely) made reservations in advance. When we arrived early we walked around and found the same block held 3 restaurants with Grade B ratings, and one with Grade C. Happily, Yang Chow had a Grade A. Those without reservations found waiting times of 30 to 90 minutes (a Saturday night).... More

The Trip Advisor reviews brought us here, and they weren't wrong. This was great Chinese food, and we tried a variety of dishes in our group. Started with the corn soup, which was ordered for two but was more than enough for the three of us. Then went with the slippery shrimp (a highly acclaimed local favorite) and the chicken... More

We came to Yang Chow looking for great Chinese food and this place delivers with great flavors AND great service, starting with complimentary (and delicious!) hot tea after being seated. We started with the fried shrimp appetizer and the sizzling soup. We had the Yang Chow Lamb and the Slippery Shrimp entrees, both specialty dinners. The fried shrimp was plentiful... More

The restaurant is located in old chinatown and from the outside, you had to open the door to check if they really were open since the shops around it were all closed at night, the street was quiet and only their sign was lit up. They have their own parking and valet available right behind the restaurant so that was... More

Made a reservation for 21 for my wifes 60th birthday. Everything was ready on time, they allowed separate checks for each family group and presented the cake along with singing "Happy Birthday" for no extra charge. Service was excellent with needs being made when required but with no hovering of servers around your elbow. Polite, professional and effecient and truley... More

Having been a patron for over 30 years, the consistency unique combination of taste, spice and consistency of slippy shrimp remains extraordinary. Virtually every customer has a plate on their table and folks make pilgrimages to experience this dish.

Easy to drive right by this place, but don't. Small storefront, parking in the back with narrow alley entrance next to restaurant. We were seated immediately, quick and friendly service. Large menu, with options for very traditional or more "Americanized" versions. Slippery Shrimp quite good, as was House Chicken. Won Ton soup is more hearty and filled with shrimp, chicken,... More
