Small portions of fresh fish and very good rice on sushi - the presentation (a part of anything Japanese ) was not at the same level - good service - prices are on the expensive side even over lunch.

I went on the recommendation of a friend, who promised this is the place to make you forget about the now closed Nozawa. He was right. Similar atmosphere, and preparations that highlight the fish, which is what sushi should be about. If you are looking to be coddled, go somewhere else. This is about sushi in the Japanese tradition, and... More

The quality of the food here is amazing! Sushi that melts in your mouth, so fresh, so delicious. It's an unpretentious, simple atmosphere. I don't know what those critical reviewers are talking about regarding the chef, because he and all of the staff there are incredibly sweet to us. Perhaps they are not focused on the high quality food. This... More

It was neck and neck for awhile, but when Sushi Nozawa (which I loved completely) in Studio City closed, Hiko can now claim the title 'best in la' without reservation. If you like Omakase style (chief's choice), if you like no nonsense, no yankee sushi, this is your place. You won't find speciality rolls or spicy (i.e. old and marinated... More

Any eating establishment must have two ingredients: Food and Service. I never was able to try the food part because I became a victim of what I thought was a candid camera episode (or maybe "punked"). A friends asked me to meet him for business lunch at this ..ahem...restaurant. I arrived earlier than him. All 7 tables were empty and... More

The interior was very ghetto, and they had a bunch of rules, i have a rule fore them, hire an interior decorator. The food was not even that good, I've had much better at Shiki on Venture Blvd. There, you not only get amazing sushi, but the ambiance is pretty cool too, and food costs half what it did at... When I first ate here a little over a year ago, I thought I had arrived in sushi heaven. Hiko has the best sushi and crabs rolls I have had in L.A. with the exception of Nasawa. I have been back about 10 times since then and this restaurant is incredibly consistent. Order the house special and they will bring... More

wow: this is the best fish in town, bar none. Some folks gripe about the "no cell phone" rule but it is so nice to eat in peace. The fish is unlike any other sushi. You will be spoiled for any other. Expensive, probably $80 for two with no alcohol, but well worth it. I go twice a week.
