The SF Peninsula is crammed with numerous sushi spots all competing to be the latest trendy hot spot. Akasaka is not one of them. They have been serving reliably fresh sushi and other Japanese favorites for years. The food is consistently average aimed at a very knowledgeable cliental that sometimes just want a solid meal and not a high toot... More

I wasn't sure what to expect of this place when I walked in. I went for lunch and had the deluxe sushi plate and a bowl of seaweed salad. The sushi was pretty good, a few little harder chewy bits on a piece or two. Sushi rice was fine. Seaweed salad was all right, maybe needed some more seasoning. Overall... More

We ate at Akasaka in Nov 2016 on a Friday evening, around 7:30pm. The restaurant wasn't crowded. It is reasonably-priced and ideal for small groups. The sushi was very fresh, we had maki, salmon and unagi rolls, shrimp tempura (from the appetizer menu) and saba shioyaki - all were excellent. The Agedashi tofu was so-so. The waitstaff were very friendly... More

Of course the meat dishes are very good as expected of Korean owners, but the sushi is very nice and very fresh. The chefs seem passionate about their job and very welcoming. Not Zuma. Not Tokyo. But also not expensive. Given the proximity to Stanford there are, as might be expected, all the main Japanese beers in large format.

Alaska is small with limited staff. But we had lunch here and I would recommend it. The Bento Box I ordered came with green tea, Miso Soup. The box itself had a nice cold crisp salad and the salmon teriyaki was moist and adequate size. The sashimi was 4 pieces. We also ordered a sashimi platter with 12 pieces and... More

A local's favorite sushi bar and restaurant. I know a family that goes there every Tuesday night - EVERY Tuesday night. It's pretty darn good.

Not amazing, but definitely good. Friendly service. No complaints. A little on the expensive side of things, for lunch.

Fresh fish, wonderful hospitality and the green tea ice cream is a must! A relaxed comfortable atmosphere with friendly service. I eat here often bringing family and friends- a go to frequent restaurant on my list of favorites. Love their Dynamite roll!
