I will miss this funky diner. I had many a meal here with friends from across the country even. There will never be another like it located in a former 1930's Mobil gas station.

So after 3 tries we finally were able to try the catfish house. Each time we went they were closed. FYI, they are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening regardless of what Yelp or their website says. These are the days on the front of the restaurant. We had the frog legs for appetizers to try for the first time.... More

This is an interesting place to visit. Way out in the country! You will wonder if you are really going to find a restaurant "out there". Catfish is very tasty and service is always very good.

Who would guess this place is even there. It was wonderful! Our first time so we had the cat fish of course. The service was great and we got there early enough to get a table, but be warned, you could have a wait. The place is small and old, but the wait staff was great and the food excellant.... More

As relative newcomers to the Modesto area, my husband and I only recently heard about this restaurant. It was AWESOME! The minute we walked into the small restaurant we felt so at home. The tables were covered with red-checkered tablecloths and the owners (I'm guessing) were alternately sitting at a table by the kitchen talking and going into the kitchen... More

I don't get here often as I live over 7 hours away but whenever I am in the area Farmers is always at the top of my list. I first came here about 20 years ago and it's just as good now as then. The catfish is always cooked perfectly ( real southern style ) and the hushpuppies are top... More

I live in the south now but I'm from the Modesto area. This seems like a bit of the south in the San Joaquin valley. I think the catfish here are good, and the fried okra is good too -- not slimy. Your dinner comes with beans and rice, and I really like those as well. Hush puppies are hot... More

I love the accessible atmosphere of the restaurant. The catfish was great and the cobbler at the end of the meal was fantastic! Loved everything....definitely going back! The waitress was especially nice.
