Nice coffee place. We went because we're familiar with the one in San Francisco. Coffee was pretty strong.

Its simple: there are just some places you are always in the mood for. Caffe Trieste is one of them. Situated on the iconic Alvarado Street, this caffe is the perfect spot for a quick bite to eat or a nice resting place during your travels. The sun hits it just right. And the food-- well, don't take my word... More

We went on a particularly busy morning. There's no hostess or a 'Please Wait to Be Seated'... it's pretty much first come first serve. You have to awkwardly hover over tables and sit down immediately when they're done before the table is even bussed. You have to order at the counter (no waitress) which is fine but we ended up... Great pasta! I had a pasta puttanesca, and I asked without the anchovies since I'm a vegetarian. They made no issue and did exactly as I asked. Simply delicious sauce! Really good. Also there is a lot of food so you won't be hungry after! They also have some nice local beers :)

Great atmosphere, great food, very comfortable and popular with the locals! We were there over a holiday, so it was quite crowded, but the wait wasn't long and it was worth it. We loved it!

We came here at a lunch break from a seminar. Several of us had varied taste. Some of my Colleagues had breakfast and some had lunch. Everyone was quite happy with their choices: The eggs benedict looked great and my friend said it was just right. The same goes for the french toast. I had a capresa panini with fries.... More

Originally I was drawn to this place by the French toast but I ordered the chorizo with potatoes and eggs. The portion size was good. My co-worker had the French toast which she said was tasty. The place was cozy but quaint with lots of memorabilia of different things which I can't remember but very nice. It reminded me of... More

Established in 1956. Caffe Trieste opened the first coffee house on the West Coast in 1956. Since then, Caffe Trieste has been serving up optimum quality Espresso coffee and fabulous music for well over a half a century in San Francisco. Giovanni Giotta - THE FOUNDER, who in 1950 had emigrated to San Francisco, California, from the small fishing town of Rovigno, Italy (now part of Croatia). Missing the espresso houses of Trieste, Italy, Giotta opened his own cafe. Caffe Trieste is said to be the first espresso house on the West Coast. Now, Caffe Trieste brings its fabulous coffee and tradition to Monterey Peninsula. Enjoy superb Coffee drinks, gourmet pastries and a light fare Italian menu in casual setting.
