One cold evening in Nevada City several of us decided late that we wanted some dinner. Heading for Friar Tucks seemed like a good idea and it was. We did have to wait for a tables, but had wonderful selection of things from the appetizer section along with a nice salad which made for a perfect and reasonably priced meal.

Friendly bar scene with great music. Special drinks were good - particularly the TF Margarita with jalapeño syrup. Crab cakes were surprisingly good for bar food.

Saw some good reviews for this place online so decided to try it. Started off with shrimp tempura appetizer. 4 huge shrimp that were perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. Wife got the lobster tail and I got the prime rib. Side mash potatoes and begins were very good. The prime rib was unfortunately overdone. Probably because the lobster tail took... More

Friar Tuck's was one of the three places we scheduled for dinner. We had the cheese fondue appetizer but we not impressed; it seemed a bit off. The menu mentions that the fondue is made in the traditional style, but we are used to the traditional style with Kirsch, Gruyere, etc., and this fondue wasn't at all up to that... More

I'm sorry you had an average experience at our restaurant. Our cheese fondue is made with Gruyere and Emmental cheese, white wine and garlic and has been popular under this recipe for 43 years. We also offer over 300 wines by the bottle and 10 by the glass. I'm surprised you found that limiting. I'm sorry we weren't able to... More

A step back in time a fondue restaurant. Good European cheeses but not great. Limited beer selection. Nice service.

This is by far one of the best wine bars in Nevada County. The service is superb and the food is top notch. Greg and Rona Cook have done a great job with keeping the resturant a favorite stop for locals and tourist. Music by the bar is an added attraction.

We went for our anniversary. Ordered calamari appetizer. Very tough. They took it off the menu. Our waitress made the trip to FT worth the trip. If you are looking for exceptional food....I would recommend other places to spend my money

Very pleasant atmosphere. Known for their cheese fondue. Have never been disappointed with my meal. I consider this to be a special occasion restaurant as pricing is a little over the average price in town. Walking distance to a wonderful live theater called Off Broad. It is such a fun night!

Wow. Has this place ever come back. We had been dining at Friar Tuck's for more than twenty years (before the original building burned down), and had always enjoyed our experience there. Until the last time we ate there, which was two years ago. After that disappointing experience, I wrote a three-star review. Back then, In my opinion, Friar Tuck's... More

Have been going to Friar Tuck's for about 25 years. However, the last time we visited (two years ago), the meal was under par as was the service and we were not sure we would dine there again. Happy to report it's back on track!
