Not disappointed at all. The food was excellent. I'd come back here again when I'm in town. The place was crowded. There was no empty table when we were there.

The flavors of the food in this quaint restaurant are spectacular. The unique and playful spices come through independently and in harmony. The service is very friendly and good as well. It is the best Ethiopian food I have eaten in the Bay Area.

Maybe my age (68) disqualifies me from reviewing this place. Everyone else was at least 30 years younger, and much looser about the relaxed wait for service and food. Very sweet servers, but hard to find when you wanted water or a second beer---and it's a tiny place. The Ethiopian food, eaten with a bread "pusher," was tasty though. I... More

Very comprehensive introduction to Ethiopian cuisine. It feels authentic while still being approachable. I went with a group of 3 and we sat outside, as it was unusually busy for a Tuesday evening (12 or 14 parties in the restaurant, almost every table full). The two or three people working front of house that evening took great care of us... More

The food is flavorful and freshly prepared. Sometimes, Ethopian food can be a overly salted and oily. -definitely not the case here. Service was great. We had the vegetarian combo and added the eggplant dish. Will definitely be back.

Yummy food...and well described in the menu. I like the setting...it's an interesting fun place. On Telegraph Avenue near Alcatraz...worth a visit.

Cafe Colucci was rated best Ethiopian in the area by East Bay Express, and it has become my standard for that cuisine. While all of the Ethiopian food I've had in the East Bay has been really excellent, few have had decent service. Every dinner I have had at Colucci has been marked by not just delicious food, but very... More

And obviously everyone in the bay area knows this, because they all seemed to be there the night we visited. Hard to get a table--but actually, all those people added to the tangible energy of this packed, casual restaurant. And that has a lot to do with the communal style of eating that is authentic, Old World Ethiopian. Everything's shared.... More

No cutlery, just use your fingers! Meals are served with individual baskets of injera bread which is used to grasp the meats and vegetables on your plates and pass it to your mouth! Try to get an outside table, so much quieter even though it is on the street - the inside can be noisy as voices and laughter reverberate... More
