If you haven't tried Oakland-style barbecue, this is a perfect introduction. Next to Jack London Square and just a few blocks down Broadway from the downtown hotels, this place serves up great meats and a friendly vibe. You can choose from pork ribs, brisket, links and other meats, with nice sides. Portions are HUGE. Their hottest sauce, especially, is to... More

Their BBQ platters are some of the tastiest I've eaten. Good size portions, along with slaw and sides, so you won't leave hungry!

I love finding BBQ places in new cities. I planned my visit to OAK knowing that E and J was across from my hotel. Long story short, my chicken and sausage were fair in quality but smothered in 4x the sauce necessary. The meats were beyond overwhelmed. The iced tea must have come out of a fountain, probably the worst... More

The BBQ was inedible. Grisly and unchewable. I really wanted to like it. At first they had run out of brisket. Then they brought it out to our relief... Which quickly turned to disappointment. The sides were the only thing we ended up sharing.

THIS IS THE BEST BBQ..PERIOD! We had been to this restaurant over ten years ago and loved it then and we are still in love!!! Your best bet is to just go full out and get a combo plate cause it is all good. The portions are huge and most importantly do not forget to bring home your own Everett... More

We arrived at the restaurant and was immediately seated. Our waitress Gail came and took our drink orders. We was there celebrating my friend's birthday. We ordered the combination plate that served all the four meats which serves two; Ribs, Brisket, Links and Chicken with two sides, Macaroni & Cheese and Coleslaw with Cornbread Muffins. Gail was an excellent waitress... More

My family and I have been eating EJ's BBQ since we were young adults. The meat is tender, portions are a good size. They have several locations, and each one is supervised by one of the sisters, some family members and friends. Service is pretty good. The sauce is to die for. If you are brave, give the hot sauce... More

The BBQ was very well prepared. I got the triple comb, which was ribs, bbq chicken and brisket. The chicken was especially tender. The Mac & cheese and collard greens were tasty as well. They give huge portions and he staff is attentive. The food doesn't come out within ten minutes. You ave to wait a bit , but the... More

I know this place stays afloat because it's black owned and has quite a history. I love black owned business and support as much as possible. I cannot support this place simply because both the service & food are bad. The service is hit or miss - but consistently S L O W. They tend to forget side dishes, beverages,... More

We stopped at Everett & Jones Barbque before going to a Athletics ball game. We ordered the two person platter. Wow a lot of food. Had the Sassy Sister Ale to go with it. Didn't eat a thing at the ball game!!
