Wonderful spinach ravioli and chicken parmesan! Very small place but they have outside patio. Excellent food. Recommend.

Perfect lunch spot in the middle of the day near Monterey! Recommended by our innkeepers at The Jabberwock B&B, this hit the spot!
We had a glass of wine each and shared the crab cakes. We also had the warm mozzarella sandwich and the stuffed portobello sandwich. Very good food and service.
We checked reviews before deciding to eat at the Red House Cafe and they sounded promising. It turns out that the food was acceptable but not amazing. The prices listed on the internet were not accurate and were actually much higher than advertised. To add...insult to injury, we were charged an automatic 20% tip fee because there were six of us (nowhere to be found in comments that we were exploring before deciding to eat there). And finally, after our debit card was charged, we found in the small print "you may be charged $4.95 for using your credit card" (which we were). And as for the staff, they were polite but not very friendly. We will not be going back to the Red House Cafe and suggest that you think carefully before you do.More
We celebrated Mother's Day at the Red House Café. This was a delightful and wonderful place to dine. We were quickly seat by the wonderful host. The service outstanding. Food was amazing. Recommend the Crab Cake Benedict served with Roasted Potatoes. Freshly squeezed orange juice....Mother's all received a long stemmed rose today.More
Wanted a casual breakfast, both had frittata and some fruit. Very good. Nothing unusual, just basic good cooking. Decent service.
We had dinner here and the staff and service is great. We shared the Caesar Salad and the both of us ordered the Chicken Parmesan and for desert had the Apricot pie. Delicious meal!
My daughter and I had a delicious breakfast outside on the patio. Food was very tasty, nicely prepared, and staff was great.
Been ages since I have been here and it did not disappoint. Had a lovely spot on the deck, in the sun. Very nice wait person and super friendly. Made it just in time for breakfast. The portions are extremely large, so go hungry. I...had the Ham Benedict and it was de-lish. The taters were cooked perfectly, golden brown with a tad bit of seasoning and tender in the middle. The Benedict was a challenge to manage as it was on a Croissant, not my favorite as it get's pretty soggy by the end of the meal. Eggs were cooked perfectly. The Hollandaise sauce could have used a lot more lemon, a bit bland. But a bargain @ $14.00. I shall return.More
Food was alright, nothing special, but certainly not worth the price - which was significantly higher than shown online, too. Lemonade refill suddenly wasn’t available when asked for, and cheap substitute “Pepsi” offered as a replacement. For parties of 6 or more, an automatic gratuity...of 18% is added, and an extra 3.5% for paying by credit card (for everyone). In combination with the overall poor service a very unsatisfactory visit. This place seems to focus on getting customers to pay too much money for as little as possible. 0/10 would not recommendMore
As we looked forward to our annual return to the Monterey area, well up toward the top of our list was enjoying lunch once again at the Red House. The quality of ingredients and how they meld, along with the wonderful ambience of the well-cared...for old home with glowing fireplace is a special experience. It's hard for any restaurant to meet expectations when they are so high from prior experience. The Red House does that. Some day I hope our timing will enable us to eat a meal other than lunch here. The service is pleasant and efficient. No problems whatsoever, but nothing special. I wouldn't want to sit near the bathroom either as various people have commented. It's an unfortunate situation for all but the most distracted who are fixated by their devices. Which, come to think of it, is quite a few.More
We made a reservation in person, three hours before we came, but were placed directly next to the toilet. We had the Old Fashioned Cheeseburger and the first impression was the price of $ 20 on the menu instead of $ 16 as shown on...the internet. We ordered them well done but received the burgers quite bloody. We ordered lemonade with a refill but when we asked for it the lemonade was out of stock. We received “Sprite” instead which was chlorified tap water with a hint of citrus. In the end we had to pay an extra charge for paying by credit card.More
Wonderful place, charming atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food. The breakfast sandwich and vegetable frittata were yummy. They have a nice sidewalk patio as well.
Most every time that we go to Monterey for a trip we eat at this little restaurant. It is such a cute little spot built inside a little red house. In the winter you can sit in the front room with the fireplace blazing. The...food is absolutely delicious and the service is wonderful. Super cute for special events. Like anniversaries if you like a cozy spot.More
I had the tomato mozzarella. The idea of it was better than the reality, as it was smothered in what I think was a vinegarette. My wife had a salad with prawns, which cost more than comparable salads at nearby eating establishments. Finally, we were...seated at a table adjacent to the bathroom…so we had a constant stream of people around our table. Not pleasant.More
