Absolutely worth standing in line. A must visit on Tuesday and Saturday for delicious breads (can freeze and then warm up in the oven at 200F when needed) and pastries that are SO big!!! A bit of Italian flavor on both breads and pastries. What...a treat!!More
Pavel’s makes incredible breads and other tasty goodies. They also have a small selection of sandwiches. It’s a local favorite.
Went here on a whim while visiting Monterey and zero regrets! Best chocolate croissant I’ve ever had and my best friend has not stopped raving about the chocolate eclair. (I think it might have changed her life.) Extremely reasonable prices and very friendly staff. There...was a long line, but for a reason. They kept it moving however, and everything inside this bakery is worth the time. I can’t wait to try the sourdough loaf I brought home as well. Highly recommend this great bakery and will make it a point to visit whenever we’re on the peninsula.More
On vacation and heard it mentioned by some locals. I went on a weekday morning and it was not crowded We got the cinnamon roll, berry danish, cheese danish and croissant, bear claw. Wow! kids loved it. I loved it. It’s going to be hard...to eat pastries back home now that I have tasted the ones from here.More
The best chocolate croissants that I’ve had anywhere. Better than my experiences in France. Better than Thomas Keller’s Bouchon. These are amazing and a must try if you go to Pavels. Be sure to get in line early as they do sell out.
Cash only. Big pastries. Arrived at 6:50am for a 7am opening and we’re 7th in line. Ordered a sampling of Things we wanted to try and after ordering and paying we waited outside for our order. We got the cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant, almond croissant,...cream cheese danish, and farmer’s brioche. All We’re good, but the pleasant surprise was the cream cheese danish which was my favorite. I don’t like danishes normally and was surprised by the crust on this pastry and the cream cheese was not overly sweet. It was amazing! I would hands down enjoy that again. The farmers brioche was hearty with seeds and wheat flour with two eggs in the middle hard cooked. Not sweet which is good after all the other sweet things we were trying. They are currently open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. 7am until they sell out. I have arrived my only other time eating here at noon to find nice breads and some good sweets still available so it’s always good to try.More
This place has the best pastries!!! You can't go wrong with anything you order. We go here every time we are in town!
Excellent bakery in Pacific Grove. The bear claw was big, crispy in the outside, tender with lots of toasted almonds, perfect. Cinnamon roll also top notch. Big, lots of cinnamon, delicious dough and glaze. The baguettes looked very good, will have to go back and...try them. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good Covid protocols, everyone was masked, distancing marks on floor, you order, pay, then wait outside for order. We will definitely return. Please note that Tripadvisor lists wrong hours. Pavel's is closed on Thursdays. I rave treated a correction. Glad we took the time to come back and enjoy their treats.More
I've lived on the Monteey Penisula for over 50 years and have gone to most of the bakeries that prevail in the area. In my sampling the goodies that are offered by the various venues, I've concluded that Pavel's is definitely my favorite. I've enjoyed...the cakes, the almond rolls, the various breads, and yes, their cookies. I've also become partial to Pavel's, for I do like their overall business ethic. Everything that's provided daily has been baked fresh for that particular day. Yummy, yummy indeed!More
You'd think a donut the size of a small throw pillow couldn't be soft as a cloud inside, but it was. Everything was delicious. Lined up before 7 on a Saturday morning and the line was already 20 deep. That's all you need to know...about a place.More
We loved the almond bear claw and the cinnamon roll. Next time I would like to try the chocolate croissant it looked delicious! There were so many choices it was hard to pick. Make sure you bring your appetite because the portions are huge, biggest...baked goods I had ever seen. There is always a line so get there early to make sure you get the bakery goods of your choice.More
The long-ish line on that Saturday morning was the first hint that we were in for something special. It being our first time at Pavel's, we were genuinely surprised by the sheer size of each of the baked goods. The glazed was the width of...a dinner plate! But that was only the beginning. What followed were the first bites in the many items we had boxed up for gorging a bit later on the coast. As someone else wrote...run, don't walk to Pavel's!More
Dont let the line scare you....its moves very fast!!!! This place was fantastic. I wish I could pick it up and bring it home. We had alittle bit of everything and was able to do 7 pastries for 26 dollars. Really Reasonable especially for what...you are getting. Everything was delicious and those croissants were straight out of Europe!!!!! Trust me run there!!!! Its soooooo worth it.More
Amazingggg! Fabulous little bakery, great for grabbing some pastries before your day of activities. The apple Danish tart is delicious and the bread was so buttery and flavorful. I don’t live in Monterey but it’s a new must for whenever I visit!
