This was our first meal on the west coast and it did not disappoint! Amazing, authentic mexican food! The green salsa was bangin!

I've been passing by this restaurant for years and never bothered to stop in to try it out. Just by looking at this place from the outside and when entering you know this place is stuck in time, just the way I like it. Hopefully they will never remodel and leave this place the way it is now. The waitress... More

We went here on a Saturday afternoon and were the only ones in the place when we first arrived. The food was decent, but didn't wow us and considering the many options for Mexican food nearby, we don't feel a strong need to return.

Run by a Mexican family, it wo u ld be hard to beat the quality here! Not a chain, very good smothered burritos and enchiladas. Well worth dropping in.

It was Saturday night and everything was jammed and I just wanted food without a wait. Quirky place with plain Mexican food- good portions but food a little bland. Kind of a homey place just a few booths and a row of 2 seat tables down the middle. There was just 1 older woman who was waitress/cashier maybe the owner.... More

I was by myself and looking for a place for lunch, and did not feel like going to one of the many fancy restaurants in Pasadena. El Toreo is very unassuming from the outside but the menu looked good and not very expensive so I went in. Simple diner atmosphere with old posters on the walls. I had the Burrito... More

Meh. I've had worse. Beef taco was okay, cheese Enchilada tasted like cheese covered in barbecue sauce. Beans and rice were okay. Chips were stale. Flour tortillas were not fresh. Bean tostada tasted like (rhymes with grass). Atmosphere . . . Normally, most dive restaurants that I frequent have great food. This place, the food was mediocre at best. Save... More

Surrounded by upscale eateries that charge an arm and a leg this little place serves good Mexican food at an affordable price. Not gourmet by any stretch, but a great place to get a basic taco or burrito

So so Mexican food that'll do when you're far away from your favorite place. The place retains a good degree of "diner charm" and fits snuggly into the Old Town scene. I would hop on the Ventura Freeway and go to Casa Vega for more fun and much, much better food.
