We decided to take the Three Grand Daughter's to Pismo Fish & Chips for Dinner on a Wednesday evening around 5:00 .. We had heard a lot of positive feedback on Pismo Fish & Chips so decided to finally try them. We arrived and were...seated very quickly, and the young man who provided the drinks was right on top and brought drinks and color paper and crayons for the Grand Daughters, and he checked on us a couple of times within the first 10 minutes of being seated. As a family we ordered the Squid Rings for an appetizer, along with Two Bowls of Clam Chowder to share with Two of Grand Daughters, then we ordered the Small Fish & Chip dinner, Kid's Mac & Cheese, and Kid's Grilled Cheese Sandwich for the Grand Daughters, then the Crab / Shrimp Louie, and the Fish (Cod) Dinner for the adults. The Squid Rings were good, nothing overly special, and thought the position was a bit small for the price, the Clam Chowder was extremely good, and the bowl is a pretty good size / amount. The Fish and Chips were also pretty good, however the kids Mac & Cheese was sticky and burnt, and pieces of it were hard, the Grilled Cheese sandwich was ok ... the Crab / Shrimp Louie was "Huge" but majority of the salad was lettuce, and only had one egg, a few pieces of cucumber, and five cherry tomatoes .... the Fish Dinner was very disappointing, while the Cod tasted ok, the Baked Potato was old, hard and cold, didn't come with any veggies or anything else, not even a roll or toasted garlic bread. The service was also very slow, and we were only checked on once after the meals were brought, now will say the restaurant did fill up and was busy by 5:30, and suspect they were short staffed based on the number of waiters we saw, so given the labor shortage in the food industry, will not blame them for the minimal attention. Was a bit surprised with the ambiance and decor of Pismo Fish & Chips, the interior looks very dated, like it hasn't been updated since the 60's or 70's ..... with the crowd they seem to get, and the prices they charge, would have expected a much nicer interior .... most of the Dinner's do seem to be fairly large, so you probably do get a good amount of food for most meals .... and we might have been there on an off day, however we probably would not go back again, as there are too many other good places to eat in the Five Cities area, to go back here again ...More
