Chavez Supermarket in Redwood City, CA is just what the name says, a full service supermarket, that caters to a primary Latino (but evolving) neighborhood. What makes it special is its takeout Taqueria, the best in town. I can't say that as a local since I am from Minnesota but visit family in the area here often and this is... More

I remembered the tacos from Chavez being quite tasty so I went to pick up tacos for dinner. Turns out each basic taco (tortilla, 1.2oz meat, salsa, cilantro and onion) is a whopping $2.99 a piece, which means I paid over $32 for 9 tacos. What is worse, when I got home and tried the tacos, the meat was tough,... More

I used to live right around the corner from this place and the tacos and burritos are the best in all of the south part of the county

Having grown up in the Mexican restaurant business I have high expectations. This place was average. Everyone told me to try it. I will find a better place. I went here with 4 adults and two young children. Fish tacos were over cooked. Al pastor tacos were overseasoned. Carnitas were okay just a little chewy from sitting in a warmer... More

We love going to this market. We have been going there for a couple of years now. Their food is always fresh and always excellent. They have never let us down. It's a one stop shop. You can find everything you need there. We love stopping there when we are passing through town to get our food fix. Stop by... More

For a traveler from Pennsylvania, it was nivce to get more authentic Mexican food. The burritos were great, as were the tacos. It's a good spot to stop for a quick lunch.

I split the breakfast burrito with a co-worker, that's how big it is. It was delicious. They have a nice selection of other Mexican breakfast items as well.

Right across the street from the Best Western, food tasted good & plenty of it, good prices. Inside the supermarket so you can kill two birds. No atmosphere to speak of, just tables & chairs inside a supermarket.

I've been going to chavez my entire life. I very rarely find something just as good for the same price. They are authentic and delicious. It has remained my favorite go to taqueria for 20 years. The employees are nice and fast with the food. Prices are decent depending on what you get.
