I ended up spending a couple of hours here waiting for my delayed Coast Starlight train. It was 11 PM on a Tuesday night and Old Town was starting to look like a ghost town – River City was one of the few places still...More

It is a large saloon. I saw many people enjoying their drinks, especially Bloody Mary's which seemed very popular. I can only speak directly about one thing. Before 6 PM if you go in here, go to the bar and you can order a sasparilla...More

There's a sign out front that says "serving sacraments best Bloody Mary". So, naturally, being a Bloody Mary fan, I had to check it out. I haven't tried many Bloody Mary's in Sacramento, but this place, I believe was not lying. It's the best I've...More

This looks like an old saloon, smells like an old saloon, was dark like an old saloon, but there are too many pool tables for a saloon with food. We didn't have drinks, but we all had sandwiches. I had the Buck Shot Bird. It...More

That said, it's as good as any saloon to stop and have a cool one. Recommend checking The Other Office a few doors down which is pretty similar and then choose which one seems best. Both are pretty good for watching the ebb and flow...More

Thanks for your review, we are a old saloon but do have updates like TV's, air hockey in the back and we still have peanuts on the floor and old west sarsaparilla. So yes we are a lil funky. Thanks for stopping in.

We decided to have a drink here during our stroll through old town SAC, and this place didn't disappoint. Our bartender Amanda makes a great drink, and is super friendly. She told us the history of the bar, and took the time to make us...More

We were walking through Old Town Sacramento and came upon this gem. They truly have THE BEST BLOODY MARY's in Sacramento. They also have delicious taquitos and garlic fries, huge portions! I agree with a previous reviewer that the bathroom wasn't the greatest but that...More

We are glad you agree that we serve one of the bast Bloody Mary's in Sacramento. We are working on the bathrooms but the building is so old it makes things complicated. Thanks again for stopping in.

While walking around the historic part of Sacramento, I happen to come across this saloon just in time for a quick snack. The saloon had a good old fashion feel, but the music videos and pool tables made it give the place more of a...More

Sarsaparillas are just 25 cent's! Cant go wrong there! It is Sacramento's last Old West Saloon and yes there is a pool table as we often get locals that shoot pool. The music video's do change the vibe a bit but we do karaoke at...More

Sacramento's Last Old West Saloon. In 1861, River City Saloon was one of the original houses of ill repute owned by Johanna Heigle. Shortly after that it became Parker French’s Saloon. It was owned by Mr. Parker French who was a colorful Old Sacramento Newspaper man that wanted a fun place to go after work. Located in the Old Sacramento area. In the 1960's, Old Sacramento and the saloon had fallen to hard times as the area had become the worst skid row west of the Mississippi. In 2007, the saloon was remodeled to its original grandeur and renamed the River City Saloon. Besides feeling like you are back in time when visiting the saloon has great deli sandwiches and bar food and Sacramento's best Bloody Mary and still has 25 cent Sarsaparilla for the kids to belly up to the bar with you till 8 pm. After 8 pm it turns into a karaoke and live music hang out.
