Loved the porterhouse. Veggie side is not great; better to get the mushrooms (on the side) - they have garlic! Yum! Service is good, though I am not used to particularly chatty waiters, ours was ok.

We have been eating at OJ's for over 20 years and it never disappoints. The meats, the bread, the spaghetti! Yum! And the staff, it's like seeing old friends every time we eat here. Love this place.
Well, I'm always happy when a classic is still a classic. Let's start with the dessert. I like to plan my meal around what my dessert choices. Do I really want to save room for dessert or will my meal meet all my needs? If you have a craving for pretty good tasty spumoni ice cream, save some room. Not... More
you can't get a better experience. Sit at the counter!! watch the food grilled, steamed, fried, and whatever, Italian style. My favorite is liver and onions, with mushrooms on the side. Some of these waiters have worked there for 30 plus years, and make enough to live in this crazy expensive town...Service is typical flamboyant Italian, wine comes in a... More
Being the oldest restaurant in San Jose makes it a great place to take visitors. The OJ Original Hamburger with onions embedded in the meat is one of our favorites. Good veal parmigiana with a ravioli side also scores high. If you want a fun experience sit at the counter and watch the expert char grilled at work. Don't fill... More
I love Original Joe's. The portions are so big that you can plan on taking half of it home for tomorrow. Everything I've tried was flavorful and delicious and the waiters are knowledgeable and respond fast.
If you can - sit at the counter and watch all the culinary excitement. The chefs and cooks are working hard for your dining experience in a ultra clean open kitchen. They have daily specials and I took advantage. After all, if it's the special it has to be good and it was. Great and friendly staff and great experience.... More
Joes was remodeled a few years back, but retained it's timeless atmosphere. Old school Italian, with the Hideout bar in the back, this is a San Jose landmark. You can have table service, or sit at the counter and watch the cooks make it all happen. I usually get a burger, they are delicious and huge! Awesome place, where everyone... More

Does the restaurant now take credit card?. We lived in San Jose for many years but haven't been back since we moved to Oceanside, California. For many years they didn't accept any credit cards but we are hoping they now do. Can you answer this question for us.
how they can charge $17.00 for some chicken on romaine lettuce and call it Cesar salad. and charge 20 bucks for half a chicken.
