If you were born in or around Phili or you have visited there...the cheesesteak sandwich is a local favorite and Philli Frank's duplicates these sandwiches. Easy to understand since the restaurant is decked out with Philadelphia team stuff and other Phili area photos....and the owners are from Phili. The cheesesteaks are the best....the WORKS with mushrooms, grilled onions, peppers and... More

Awesome atmosphere awesome food! They've been a staple in San Marcos for years. They're food is authentic sandwiches from Philadelphia. The owners hail from Philly and have the restaurant decorated in Eagles memorabilia. They make cheesesteaks with or without onions, with provolone or whiz, with hot peppers, mild or mixed, Amoroso rolls, Tastykakes... Not feeling like a cheesesteak? They sell... More

We'd been to Philly Frank's Steaks on our last visit to San Marcos and wondered if it still lived up to our first review (5 stars). We were not disappointed! Service was friendly and our sandwich ("The Works" $10.15) was delicious and generous enough in size for two senior citizens to share. It contained lots of juicy meat, provolone (our... More

Try the ultimate fries. So freaking good! My personal favorite is beef, provolone, mushrooms & onions. Family owned & operated. People from Philly! Go Eagles!

The inside is pretty dated. Looks like it was built in 1990 and never updated. The cheese steaks are pretty good most days. We have been several times, but this last time the meat was really bland. Couldn't even tell if there were any peppers on the sandwich. Their onion rings are pretty awesome though! Maybe catch them earlier in... More

We were in Carlsbad when someone recommended this place after telling them we were born and raised in Philly. They even fly in the rolls from Philly to give you a true experience. This was the best cheesesteak I have had since leaving Philly. Very friendly employees, too. They even had whiz and applied the proper amount. It is in... More

I have been around and have eaten the best cheesesteaks, but this place beats them all. One bite and it's self-evident. Dana, Melissa and crew work magic to get it right. I would recommend a thousand times over. Do it right and ask for whiz. -Detroit Nick

Hands down, the best Philadelphia steak sandwich in San Diego county. That's all that needs to be said.

When in town on business, we never miss a chance to go to Philly Franks. The place is small and can get a bit crowded during lunch hour but the cheesesteak sandwiches and a basket of fries can't be beat.

Very good cheesesteaks, could use a little more meat on them for the price, but the taste is straight out of Philly!
