If a place is going to try to pass off its maybe-not-super-fresh food, a stew or sauce would be the place to do it -- Fish Market does not do that! I ordered a small portion (actually very big and more than enough for one) of cioppino and it was glorious. Every seafood morsel was manifestly fresh -- the squid... More

Our table started with a shrimp cocktail that included 5 jumbo shrimp...just enough for a starter to share between a couple, but one more would have been perfect. One couple enjoyed an oyster combo. Two of our party ordered dungeness crab and said it was really good. Fresh fish was delicious. Linguini with clams had ample garlic butter sauce...expected it... More

The beer choices were excellent, the fried calamari was very good, but the fish and chips were average. Service was very good but I wouldn't go back.

This restaurant has historically been excellent. Food is always good, service is abysmal. Last two times I was there, I had to get up and find someone to pay attention to our order. The food is always fresh, hot and tasty, sour dough bread is excellent. Waterside deck is lovely setting, solarium dining is lovely but noisey. Once they get... More

This is a San Mateo standard. It has a nice patio, ample parking, generous portions, and a large variety of fish choices and preparations. The menu is inconsistent. The food is consistently good, but it has never been amazing.

As usual, good tasting food, nothing fancy but good quality and reasonable. When it gets busy, the wait can be long but moves quickly. Their clam chowder is the best!

Sitting outside by the water is very pleasant on a nice day. In my opinion, the food is mediocre at best, especially given the price. I only go when a friend invites me & would not go on my own. Is a big place, with a large parking lot, and conveniently located for many. I was there most recently for... More

I have gone to The Fish Market about a dozen times and every time I've found them to be consistently good. I change my dish choices on purpose to see if they fall down on the job for any particular dish....they don't! Every choice I've made has been great. My personal favorites are the Ahi Tuna starter, fish and chips... More

There were six in our group. We were seated promptly and orders taken quickly. The wait person was most helpful. The sushi appetizers were delicious. Everyone was most pleased with their meal.

Nestled alongside a quiet lagoon, our fourth restaurant, and the first to feature the upstairs, upscale Top of the Market, has been a dining destination for bay area residents since 1982. This beautiful restaurant also features a full-service cocktail bar and lounge area, and a popular oyster bar. Patio dining is available in the summer months.
