Yes PB&J and I had the Firehouse with bacon. It's really dark in here. Once your eyes adjust you feel like your in an old mine room with metal chairs and bar stools. Long wooden tables and full bar makes this a fun place for a big group or party. The burgers are really great. We shared a trio of... More

Came here with my family, we got beer and burgers. Beer was good (Ale is in the name). The atmosphere is really cool at night and feels cozy. The service and the burgers were not great... The burgers were overcooked and they took about an hour for 3 burgers. You also have to go to the bar to get drinks... More

I recently became a vegetarian and I have been looking for the best veggie patty, and American Ale might just have it. I got the NorCal burger with a veggie patty and it was so delicious. In addition to the party it had great, fresh arugula and tomatoes. I'll be back again... And again.

Mighty mixologists stir up the beverages at a blinding pace for the hord of thirsty customers. Surrounded by rustica supreme, one feels taken back in time to a simpler time when you your mates and a well mixed drink where all you needed to enjoy the evening. Home made syrups and additives lend a feeling of authenticity to the earnest... More

This place welcomes groups and invites you to savor their flavor. I find that the better beers are the more rich. But, lighter beers are easy drinking. Can't lose.

Fantastic burgers in a fun setting. Plenty of night life. My wife and I are in are early sixties and are always seeking out fun places that people our age might tend to avoid. And that's too bad. Had a good time and will return.

Went recently after not having been in probably a year. The burgers were just as good (really good and creative) but they were also trying something new to have more craft cocktails at the bar. They've always had a good beer selection but I'm very excited for the new effort with cocktails. They were really trying to be inventive and... More

I most recently visited American Ale for a friend's birthday. The whiskey I had was very good. The workers were friendly and the place was packed. Although I did not order food this time, the burgers are very good as is the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The beer selection is ample.

I reviewed this place a month or so ago and was impressed with the decor, rough sawn lumber and galvanized steel. The food, great burgers of various types, and a FULL bar with a fine beer offering. For some reason Tripadvisor couldn't publish my review??? Odd, others were published. Here is everything I know. American Ale House is at 14... More

Dig it; one of those 'finds'. Good beer selection, real care taken with cocktails made with quality ingredients. Great blue cheese burger. This is a place where you can go with friends, or alone if you find yourself in the area, and not be disappointed. All told, a very nice addition to the sb downtown scene.
