I moved from TX to CA 12 years ago. My husband always tries so hard to take me to good restaurants in the Bay Area and nothing ever comes close to what I consider "real" Mexican food. He always talked about a taco stand in Santa Barbara that Julia Child gave amazing reviews to. I respect Julia as a chef... More

The reviews of this place are right. Good Mexican food at reasonable prices. There was a small line when we got there and a little wait for our order to be prepared, but we were completely satisfied. This is an order from a window, pick up at another window and find a place to sit on their patio type place.

Last year, in February, we were blown away by Super-Rica's food, and came back to try it again. Big disappointment. We ordered the #8, a dish with meat, mushrooms, onions and peppers in sauce atop a tortilla. We had loved it last year. This year it was dry, and the tortilla tasted like an undercooked pancake. Our other order was... More

I went to Super-Rica recently after a long hiatus and THEY STILL ARE THE BEST. Even tho it was almost unbearably hot, crowded, and they were clearly under staffed, the food was DELICIOUS. They did not disappoint. It is hard to avoid a line but we didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes and a table was available when... More

Queue to order, get your own food and plastic chairs. However quality was good. All freshly cooked, friendly staff and fantastic value. Very glad I went here (only found by using trip advisor as a bit away from the crowds).

How can you NOT go? It's basically a little shack. Make sure you check open times, since when I went, there was a sign that it is closed a couple days during the week. You wait in line, place your order, wait for your food to be cooked, prepare your salsas and accompaniments, guard your table, wait for your number... More

A friend who grew up in Santa Barbara recommended this as a MUST DO for the most amazing Mexican food ever, and she was right. Cash only. Long lineups that move fast. Everything made from scratch to order. Worth every second of waiting and lunch for two (huge) with two beers and a watermelon drink (THE BEST) came in at... More

I've lived in SB over 25 years and still find Super-Rica capable of providing the most satisfying simple meals. This is not fancy cuisine, just pure, fresh ingredients artfully combined. This is why Julia Child called it her favorite restaurant in Santa Barbara. Go at the off-hour--I recommend 5-5:30--and order at least one of the daily specials. I particularly like... More

You'll find the real hole in the wall by the people lined up outside on the street corner. You'll wait in line You'll pay in cash. And chances are, you'll agree that it was DEFINITELY worth the wait!

I loved this! It's got character and is a authentic experience. The queue was out the door and took 30 minutes but it is worth the wait. It's a small shack without anything fancy, but #16 is definitely worth ordering. It was by far the stand out!! The tortillas are the freshest of fresh and melt in your mouth.
