I have been to SM Seafood numerous times. Freshest fish you can find anywhere and the most variety too. Not only is it a market but also a restaurant. Nice place for lunch, happy hour or dinner. They have an oyster bar and even a take out cafe. I have tried many of the menu items and have been extremely... More

The seafood was very good. I had the tuna poki which was good. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Very slow. Ordered a drink and by the time I got it I was almost finished with the meal. She was busy talking to another table instead of taking care of her tables. The seafood was also overpriced. $13... More

Fun local young and hip place with best fresh seafood to go and a little side restaurant. An LA staple with the freshest fish in the city. Stopped in for a little lunch. Decided to treat myself to a crab louie. It was just too, too, too divine. So much crab, such flavorful lettuce and a great Russian dressing. Not... More

It is overpriced which I would put up with, but the staff is so rude and dismissive that the whole experience is just too unpleasant.

This place rocks ! The menu variety is off the hook. Everything is beautiful and fresh. Really nice house Cabernet that compliments the fish selections. Obviously the public is aware as the place was near full at 3 PM on a Monday afternoon. Ordered 2 ceviches, oysters, a seafood ravioli dish & 2 glasses of wine all for $58. Sat... More

SM Seafood is a west side gem. They have a fantastic selection of the freshest fish, seafood and sides. I'm a sucker for the marinated tomatoes (though very pricy, worth every penny) and the white anchovies. The mussels are great to take home and cook with some white wine, garlic and parsley. I'm a huge fan of the staff there.... More

There are about 10 small tables and an oyster bar for about 6-8 pax with a fresh seafood market. Rear parking avail and free. We came around 3 and we didn't have to wait. Moments later it's all full house with a standing order for diners to finish in an hour and half. Coming from Singapore I noticed a very... More

I decided last minute to cook on New Year's Eve. So I rushed down to Santa Monica Seafood to buy lobster. In and out in 20 minutes even though it was mobbed. Lobster was heavenly of course. Picked up some salmon too, equally fabulous.

I love this place and as soon as we touch down from London drive staright over there for a gumbo or champagne and salmon snack. The array and diversity of the fish is tremendoous. Just look at the pics of famous chefs who use the produce daily. I always get the Ahi Tuna, Monkfish, Scallops, Salmon, Squid and whatever exotic... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
