This place oozes with '50s charm, a nice bar, funky lights, red plastic booths. It has been largely abandoned by millenials and was empty on a Monday night except for us. My wife liked her small filet mignon, not the mediocre onion rings. OK friend calimari, so-so small salad, utterly horrid bowl of clam chowder. My friend across the table... More

We went to The Galley as many times before. First, and huge turn off is we had made reservations via Open Table. They had no record of it and said the sight had crashed . No it had not. We were seated in the outdoor area which lacked the ambience snd good service. The food once ordered and served was... More

This restaurant served an excellent rib eye steak My salmon filet was also tasty. The casual atmosphere makes you feel like you are taking a journey back in the past. I liked the pinup photos in the men's bathroom. Our cocktails were also good.

Go while it's still there; a local's favorite. Age bracket ranges from 20-something hipster locals & "Silicon Beach" types to the usual go-to joint for retired successful entertainment industry folks. We always reserve ahead (Open Table) and come early for dinner hour so can get a seat adjacent to bar --its nautical theme is at full force. Plus easier street... More

I first dined here 30 years ago and had an opportunity recently to return. It has been there since 1934, and is justifiably regarded as an institution. It was every bit as good as it was 30 years ago. Great steaks, seafood and libations. We had outstanding service in the cozy beach bar atmosphere. I will return every time I... More

Celebrated a birthday tonight at Santa Monica's Landmark, The Galley. We both felt like we were the only people there, and it was crowded!!! The service was superb, no rush, yet catered to every need. The food, steamed clams and filet ABSOLUTELY the best, with our server, Erin, also the ABSOLUTE best. If one is tired of the noisy, trendy... More

I don't like to write negative reviews, but....I must! The food was not bad, it was inedible! I ordered the salmon and asked for it to be cooked medium-rare. The fish was so over-cooked, it looked like roadkill; and tasted worse than it looked. Not only did I send my salmon back, but out of nine meals ordered by my... More

We always dine here when visiting Santa Monica from the UK. Tonight it was awful. I booked ahead and mentioned I have a garlic allergy. When we got there they had almost nothing without garlic. I couldn't have an appetizer and 4 shrimp with a small portion of angel hair pasta cost $27!! My husband's chicken was undercooked and chewy.... More

This was a return to trip to the area for us and we wanted to make sure we visited this restaurant. Food is excellent and so is the service and value. We were not disappointed.

One of the coziest restaurants I've been to, both the steaks and the shrimps are great, and so are the drinks. They have really set the bar high for a sea/tiki themed restaurant.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
