In true US style they served my coffee in a glass bucket about three times larger than it needed be. Shame, they obviously love coffee and there's a good vibe.

It's not common (for me, at least) to come across a siphon coffee shop, but every cup of siphon brew that I've had comes out so clean and easy to drink - Funnel Mill is no exception. Talking on cell phones is heavily frowned upon (take your calls outside!), but the atmosphere isn't deathly silent - of course not with... More

It may be independent, and it may serve coffee, and they may even not require tips, but that's not enough to overcome the significant shortcomings: 1. Awful decor: fluorescent lighting creates a dark, depressing atmosphere, coupled with absolutely no attention to decorating the space at all. 2. Slow: yes they have a unique brewing method. That would be cool IF... More

It's just coffee so I feel overly generous giving it 5 stars, but it is truly the best coffee I ever tasted. My pick was the iced chocolate truffle coffee, complete with coffee ice cubes so as not to dilute the flavor. It had a richness and depth I've never experienced in a coffee. The vibe was quiet, relaxing, well-lit,... More

First of all, they do have a rule that you cannot use cellphones in here. So make sure that you are aware of that. The coffee is pricey but I think that it is worth it! I loved the taste of everything that we tried and the service was great as well.

Saw great reviews, so drove by pick up coffee. Asked for recommendations got 2 different coffee. Waited few minutes so decided to get a raisin oatmeal cookie. Took a bite of coffee, it's hard too sweet had to toss wasted $3.25. Finally coffee came, took a sip tasted water down then took a sip of my bf tasted water down,... More

I have never given a rating of 5 for anything, ever. Besides being the best coffee one may ever have, it is the most expensive so do not go there half asleep on the way to work. The selection is quite impressive including Kopi luwak. I have never seen this served anywhere else. We split cups of the blue mountain... More

Vanilla, vanilla. Best cafe in USA and ASIA. These folks are about the craft, chemistry, and physics of coffee making. Better than anywhere I have ever been.

I am so glad that I found this place. I've been searching for a good coffee house where I can enjoy my drinks and work at the same time, and this one wins the contest, hands-down. The place looks great, for one thing; a sunny, airy space in the front with a waterfall wall feels like a living room of... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
