Nice interior, not stuffy or formal. Looks like the local winemakers and farmers favor this restaurant, based on who we saw walk in. Very good to excellent wine list. I had a pasta in a cream sauce and spouse chose the Bolognese. We are still dreaming about that Bolognese. It was a memorable dish, not to say mine wasn't excellent... More

Five went for a Sunday supper and all were pleased. There are a series of interconnected rooms, many looking onto a lighted garden. The menu is sufficiently varied, from salads and pizzas to pastas (homemade) and more sturdy complete meals. The desserts are excellent, jumbo size and the service impeccable.

I am so sorry to have to write this review. I have voiced my complaints to the restaurant many times over the years and hope never to have to go there again. Dear friends wanted to take four of us to a nice dinner. It should have been lovely and it was terrible. My dinner without alcohol was $50 to... More

We are new to Sonoma and enjoy fine dining. We especially enjoy dining where 'locals' recommend. We learned about The Depot Hotel restaurant from a neighbor and it was awesome. We were seated outdoors near the pool last Friday evening and it was stunning! The patio area is lush with mature manicured landscaping and is exceptionally quiet all surrounding a... More

Pleasant, inviting space with lovely views of the garden fountain. Delicious Italian dishes. My veal marsala was tender and perfectly sauced. Excellent service and wine choices. Highly recommend. If staying in Sonoma, just a block or so off of the plaza.

We initially tried this restaurant as part of our food tour. The pizza prepared by the chef/owner was delicious and left us wanting more! We ended up having a group dinner at the restaurant that night. Our food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Sonoma.

If you want to enjoy a restaurant in Sonoma that has superior service (thank you, Ian) and delicious food in a comfortable but elegant atmosphere, this is the place for you. We started with the Salumi Platter, which has the chef's selection of house made and locally cured meats with Italian olives. It included a generous selection of six lightly-shaved... More

We were here in February for an outdoor California wedding. The location was fabulous and easy walking distance from our accommodations off the square. They did have heat lamps but it was chilly outside. Wedding took place outside under a large gazebo. The pool provided great ambiance both during the day and at night. Food was good and served buffet... More

We heard from friends that this was a great place. Lots of history tied to this restaurant. We had a wonderful meal. Started with the truffle salad. Very fresh and the dressing superb. The Dungeness crab cannelloni melted in our mouths. Dessert was a strawberry cake that didn't disappoint. I would love the recipes for EVERYTHING!!

Description
The DEPOT HOTEL RESTAURANT is a charming neighborhood restaurant located in an historic stone building just a block off the Plaza in Sonoma. Locals and visitors to the Wine Country enjoy casual Tuscan-inspired cuisine in the Vinoteca, in the cozy dining rooms, and on the terraces surrounding the shady Italian garden and reflection pool. Food is a passion at the DEPOT HOTEL RESTAURANT for the father and son Chef team--whether it is making house-made antipasti, or handmade pasta, or fresh ricotta. In addition to products made in-house, the Sonoma wine country around us offers an abundance of new artisanal products. The search for the best local products is a treasure hunt both chefs enjoy--whether from the coast, local farms, or local cheese makers. Come join us for a trattoria-style lunch or dinner...or just drop into our Vinoteca for informal small plates of antipasti and a glass of wine. Our focus is casual Italian comfort food--served in an informal Sonoma wine country atmosphere.
